STDDIOT - Stuff That Doesn't Deserve Its Own Thread

I didn't replace it because, if you look at the Embody, you'll see how much random stuff could break:

What broke on mine is a lumbar part behind that main thick spine. That vertical part you can see through the hole in the big spine broke on mine. It doesn't really effect much. It does slightly change how the back curves when you lean back at the most upright position, but nothing that matters.

I'm thinking about switching to this chair though:

Just kidding obviously. I saw that when finding the other picture in this post. I wonder how many of those they've sold. At least 23. I bet they're banking on some hipster start-up buying 50 of them on investor's dimes.

I used to work out of a coworking space and they had a ton of them. Once saw someone almost crack their head open while leaning back. Sketchy lil things.

What an awful idea for a chair. I'm shocked any business would purchase those.

Nah, the Herman Miller Embody is a true life saver chair. First off - if someone leaned back and almost cracked their head it's because the tension on the chair was set to too loose. You can set the tension so it's harder to lean back, or at least it slows you down from leaning back too far. That person or the person before must have loosen the tension ON PURPOSE so the next person coming in leans back and then SPLAT.

You can even set the tension so high that it won't allow you to lean back the slightest AND there is another lever that allows you to set how far back to you can lean back. The only way to lean back and fall is if you didn't bother playing with the settings before sitting down. That same second lever allows you to also not lean back either - there are literally 2 settings that prevent you from leaning back and falling - #1 the tension so you lean back slowly and #2 the lever that blocks how far back you can lean back.

How do I know this - cause I own this bad boy. I can sit up to 18 hours a day for 7 days a week. In a month I can be sitting for 3,780 - just one month. Even if you halves that, that's still 1,890 HOURS sitting in a chair. This chair literally saved my back cause the second you sit down it makes you feel weightless. All the lower back pains and sores disappear within seconds. I paid $1400 for it. Before you balk, think about it, I'm sitting in this chair for 1,890 to 3,780 HOURS per month - that's literally less than $1 an hour to save my back. I've had the chair for about 5 years now. It's still the best chair I've ever bought or sat in.

If you calculate 12 months of this - that's 22,680 to 45,360 HOURS sitting on this chair - at $1400, that's $0.06 an hour. Yeah I'll pay $0.06 an hour to save and fix my back and deter long-term back problems as I age.

I know people that sit in $25 chairs they bought at Walmart - WOW, hell no. Do you know how much pain they are in after 1-2 days of that? Invest in a good chair if you are sitting down all day. Invest in a great mattress to sleep. These things impact your body and well being, and more importantly they impact your long-term health. It's worth it! If all odds were against you, everyone said it was impossible and it couldn’t be done, would you still go for it? Only a 1% chance of success, would you make the leap? Why don’t people make the jump?

People have that reaction when I tell them my goal is to retire at the age of 40. It's frustrating not to be believed in. I'm 32 and on pace to retire at 38, so fuck those doubters.

I've never really thought about stuff like that, since I grew up in a dysfunctional household, so I never learned the things about planning, security, safety etc and risk/reward that normal families teach.

So in my life, I've just done things without making that risk/reward/safety calculation that most well adjusted people learn early in life. Sometimes in my life, I've achieved things that others marvel at, just by doing it differently. Other times, I've struggled mightily with small tasks and goals, that others take for granted.

In conclusion, I would counter your claim about the 1% and say that it's a false dilemma. There's usually something people overlook in the consensus, that can be done differently for much better odds.

I'm guessing it's because people are used to the "ordinary method" giving results most of the time. Which is a good thing. That's what gives you the best life results most of the time, but the drawback is that you miss the open door, because you thought you had to climb over the wall.

I've been suffering from tinnititus for a year or so I thought. My ENT seems to think it is brain/concussion related from years ago. I didn't believe so.

Anyway, I have been really suffering because I live in a noisy environment and I decided to test if moving to a hotel would help ... and it did!

I almost have no "tinnititus" at the hotel.

Could this mean that I am actually hearing real sounds in my apartment, but that normal people are just not bothered by them? I'm particularly bothered by low frequency sounds, which it sounds like most people completely tune out. To me, they're a torment!

I'm slightly worried, since I've been increasingly sensitive to sound and light this year. I've been sensitive to those since my head injury 4 years ago, but this year it seems to have gotten worse.

I don’t get the “get shit done once January 1st get here.” That type of commitment usually lasts till Jan 15th maybe, but it is full extinguished by Jan 31st.

An arbitrary date isn’t going to somehow instill a new work ethic or desire to win. That has to come from deep within. Perhaps one night looking up at your ceiling you make a decision after contemplating for a long time. That decision changes your life. That is IF your life needs changing. Even reading some of my “inspiring” content won’t take you far if the deep desire isn’t there.

I remember exactly where I was when I knew I needed to change at each major intersection of my journey/process. It was never a January 1st.

I came across this youtuber a couple weeks ago and I was impressed with this guy. He has a couple characters but the grandmom is the best. He calls scammers, like those IRS scammers, and tries to waste their time as much as he can. But what was cool was he developed fake bank account websites and a google play store one too. He covers all angles and the fake bank account websites are very detailed but also funny with some pop culture. This shouldn't be the reason, but it motivates me to develop skills in coding so I can start moving away from wordpress.

Here is one of his videos:

Kitboga! He does all this stuff live on Twitch for hours and hours on end. It's a good lesson on re-purposing content for multiple platforms.

I thought the same thing. Doesnt look like he's using instagram much and not a facebook. Not sure if hes active in his subreddit but that's pretty popular. He's pretty well known but I feel like if he wanted to he could get much bigger

A "Proper" Hustler:

I'm watching this situation go down in an internet marketing community that's going to be a death blow to it.

The theory is to move a ton of people on skype to a custom platform. But they aren't considering that no one really asked for a "better" platform for chat. It's like the people on Linkedin trying to get people to join their Facebook group. Or people on the Facebook platform trying to force people to Twitter or Instagram or Linkedin. You have to meet people where they are at. If people are on Reddit, they want to be on Reddit, they want the conversation there. Attempting to move an audience never works - YOU have to meet people where they are at.

So in regards to skype - even trying to get people to move to "Slack" never works cause people are on SKYPE. If they wanted to be on a Slack they would already be there. So going to a "custom" solution - that's just going to be disastrous for the community. Cause in the end Skype people are still going to have their Skype open, and to have "another" App to open - meh.

This is different than cross-pollinating an audience. Cross-Pollinating means you tell your Facebook community that there is also a Linkedin Group, or Slack channel. You tell your Blog audience that they can follow you on Twitter, Facebook, IG, or YouTube. You do not FORCE the audience to move - that's the key. The people that hang out on Twitter will follow you on Twitter. The people that hang out on Youtube will subscribe to your channel - there is no force.

You have to meet the audience at the places they are comfortable at - not try to force users to change their workflow, habits, or comfort level.

Anyways - interesting stuff. I've never spoken a word in this community so most people don't even realize I'm in the chat.

Anyways it was a good run.

I sold one of my earliest test sites, which made about 2K last year, for about 2.5K. Mostly I sold it cause the product it peddled was going out of use and to be replaced. Second to reinvest in my main sites.

The site might have made about 7K in total including the sale. This is only interesting because I didn't spend a lot of time on it. Maybe 50 hours total. I just don't know, which is a shame, cause I'd have liked to really analyse the varying tasks in this project and it's relation to income.

I wish there was an easy method to track time.

When I worked my first job in college, I had a boss who made us note down what we did during the day, in 15 minute intervals. At the time I thought it was just to keep us motivated, but if you actually had actionable data on time use that precise, then that would have been great.

Eric Ciaramella - For anyone not in the know that’s the white house whistleblower’s name. What is critical is not his name, but the amount of conspirators involved in attempting to suppress his name. These conspirators include Google, Facebook, and almost all major news outlets, except the Washington Examiner.

They’ve know the name for months, Eric even has a Heavy.com article about him. But the powers that be are literally trying to block known knowledge and have been successful for months.

You can hardly find his name along with mentions of the impeachment - only googling his direct name results in content about it. These fuckers are good.

Whether you are a patriot or socialist, it doesn’t matter. Why would this one character be allowed so much “protection”. He’s not that important in the grand scheme of things, people have been doxxed for years and violence has happened to individuals for a long time.

I’m starting to believe the earth is flat.

What I am getting to is they are not just suppressing The White House Whistleblower Eric Ciaramella, they have to be suppressing a lot more. They are suppressing real knowledge that they don’t want us to know. Eric Ciaramella is just a small glimpse of what they are now capable of.

Interesting time to be alive...

...

It doesn't help that the custom solution (both v1 and V2) is just plain weird. If they had plumbed for a forum, i would probably keep an eye on it.

It seems like someone though "oh FB groups have killed forums, so let's make something that functions in a similar ephemeral way", completely missing the point that FB groups are successful DESPITE the crappy ephemeral design, because everyone is already on FB, and get notifications on their phone.

Tldr I miss the wickedfire experience, buso is great but could do with a lot more members.

BuSo imo is by far and wide the best forum I've ever been on. I'm on a similar smaller forum in my country, but it doesn't have the content heavy design of BuSo. I think BuSo has really reinvented forums actually. It's all about how forums can allow anonymous people to really get to know each other and share over time. Reddit does something quite similar, but is by design fleeting and temporary. Permanence was always the selling point of forums. The "legendary threads" around the internet. Every forum worth something has it. Facebook and to a lesser degree, Reddit, is all about news and fads. Always changing, shifting.

I got an Intel Compute Stick in the mail today. It's a "stick computer" that plugs into an HDMI outlet on your TV and is a fully fledged Windows 8 machine.

I've used it to set up my DataStudio dashboard for now. Check earnings and such. Adwords. Various KPI stuff. I am thinking about stuff like this, because I want to run a larger operation with hundreds of pages and product links and sites and I need to be aware of KPIs.

I need to see if some are underperforming so I can fix broken links, products that are out of order and such. I need to see this stuff on the daily, like I check my ranks daily. I need that command central KPI dashboard.

The stick has two USB slots. I use one for the keyboard, one for my Logitech MX Master mouse. The cool thing with the MX mouse is that I can then use the same mouse for both my laptop and for my Intel Compute Stick.

I can either use the Logitech Flow functionality, where you can simply run your pointer of the screen and it automatically turns up on your TV. I found that a bit less than functional, due to accidental moves, so I just use the button on the mouse to switch.

Right now I'm watching a ball game. Enough said. It's very functional for that as well, because those video players don't usually have inbuilt chromecast functionality.
