STDDIOT - Stuff That Doesn't Deserve Its Own Thread

That youtuber is calling people out for embellishing non-business-related stories to make them more entertaining, and acting like that undermines their business success or advice. He's on his way to success, for sure. Soon he'll be able to afford a couple lamps.

Haha maybe Dan Pena was the worst example since he is self-made, but people actually get ripped off by others so-called marketing gurus like Dan Lok (he interviewed 2-3 people I guess), Kevin Zhang, Kevin David and the likes...

Mostly, they are Shopify / Dropshipping / Affiliate Marketing people, sucking in beginners into their beginner courses and making money off of them without having any REAL experience.

Glad, the SEO industry isn't that contaminated yet with gurus left and right selling courses.

nd you must agree listening to 'killing a bear' and 'testosterone levels' will make me skeptical lol

No. You should take the time to do some research first. Here is Dan on one of his Safaris:

Here is a video of him celebrating Great Western Resources going public:

A little bit of research is all it takes to verify Dan Peña. BUT Dan says shit is hard. No one wants to hear that so they would rather listen to the gurus saying it's easy AND then turn to YouTube to escape their reality by watch videos of other people trying to throw rocks at the throne - confirmation bias.

But if people did a bit of real research they'll realize that Peña is real, which then leads them to come to the conclusion THEY THEMSELVES aren't serious about winning in life.

It's like religious people that listen to mystics that preach "God is coming to save you - AFTER you are dead". Fuck that.

Maybe instead of praying all day you should take action in life to better your standing in the world and have a better life. ACTION and FOCUS are what Peña preaches - that's literally it.

But lazy people don't want to hear that. Lazy people don't want to hear it will take 5, 10, or 20 years to become super successful. They would rather listen to the gurus offering this "brand new course on your path to riches." If lazy people are willing to buy those dumbass courses then they deserve it.

Everyone wants the easy way out - "There are no shortcuts morons!" - Dan Peña

Perhaps this Dan Pena debate does deserve its own thread.

Personally, I can’t stand Dan Pena and I often find @CCarter to be annoying. But here’s the thing, I agree with their message. I‘m just not attracted to their style of delivery.

I happen to appreciate Jocko’s delivery and @Ryuzaki delivery. Their messages align pretty close to Dan and Carter, but the delivery is different. It aligns more with my own style of delivery so obviously I like it better.

We all respond to things in different ways. I tend to hunker down when someone yells at me, while other people wake up when they get yelled at. I tend to absorb when people speak to me in a calm and measured tone, while others might read that as passive, weak, or “low testosterone”.

I always have to remind myself to listen to the message (ignore the delivery) to see if I agree. This applies in daily life as well.

A person can be totally legit with either style of delivery. And delivery doesn’t negate their legitimacy, but it can affect how a message is received. Reading your audience is critical.

I think BuSo has a nice balance of style. I hope it stays that way.

Jocko’s delivery

For some weeks now I've been trying to figure out, not that really hard, who this "Jacko" was that Dan was talking about, I've been spelling it wrong - you just helped me out a lot:

I can’t stand Dan Pena and I often find @CCarter to be annoying.

I talk a lot of good shit.

Actually for the past several weeks/months I realized I've been misl-labeling myself as an Introvert - cause I dunno, that's what was expected of me as a programmer I guess.

But several things in the past 2 years have led me to doing some internal reflection - when I was a kid, when I was growing up, and up until mid-20s I've been an extrovert. But then somewhere I thought I was suppose to be an Introvert and converted. I honestly believe it was when I got a corporate job, trying to do that 9-5 thing.

Over time I started liking myself less and less, not liked who I was or had become cause I felt something was off. I didn't realize it was that switch from aggressive to passive.

However ask any business partner I've had, the extrovert, crazy crazy person comes out every now and then.

What sort of started this process of finally figuring out what was wrong with me was a meeting some weeks back I was having with @eliquid and we were going back and forth and he stated "Why are you being so sensitive about this?" And at that moment the final tumbler in the lock clicked and the lock in my mind opened - and I was like "WTF, why am I? This isn't me, this was never me, I never gave a shit unless it got results."

For several days and weeks I went into a daze of self-reflection, basically couldn't get any work done cause something was really bothering me. It's only then when I re-realized I am an indeed an extrovert and why Peña's personality and mannerism relate to me.

What I've been doing is slowly is eradicating those introvert personalities. That's not me, that was never me.

I have this quote as part of the mantras I read every day now: "We are wolves. We are not dogs. Can you keep a wolf inside a fence?"

At the end of the day you have to embrace the true YOU, your true self to be happy and succeed. I think the way to figure out who you really are is to remember the times you are the most happiest with joy and what "personality" you are embracing in that moment.

And it is so freeing. I assume a segment of people realize I'm doing this, but I go out of my way to be abrasive. I honestly don't give a shit if people can't handle it. The people that can though, those are the ones I want to surround myself with.

You see if everyone always agrees with what I say - they have to be full of shit at some point or level. If there is no conflict, there is no emotion, if there is no emotion you can't create energy, you can't create momentum.

Every company that operates by committee is operating by a "playing not to lose" mentality, versus "playing to win". You should see, once a month I annoy @The Engineer with some new crazy idea - it's almost on schedule.

Even as an Introvert conflict shouldn't be avoided. Elon Musk's favor word is "fuck". He uses it every 3-6 words. Steve Ballmer, Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, all these people are difficult to work with cause they bring this chaotic energy, and that energy disrupts people that are just in "chill" mode.

For me, if I sat here and wrote a blog post or content without flare or gifs, or something crudeness at some level I'd quit, cause that drains all of the fun out of it. Like some people figured out eventually that some of my gifs were from porn scenes - the long troll. That was funny though. Gotta love what you do and have fun doing it.

From that moment several weeks ago, where I figured out that I am an extrovert and started to truly embrace it, you can see the change in my mannerism's online and more importantly my bank acount results exploded cause of how I approached projects. Before I was going at them with the wrong mentality.

So it's only going to get worse going forward. Basically this isn't even my final form.

Deep down inside, to me - the people on the other side are the enemy, and I really do want them dead. "If they win that means I lose" and losing is not going to ever happen. And one day my day will come when the enemies finally break down my front gate, and I'll welcome it.

"You live by the sword, you die by the sword - I knew this day was coming."

That's true! For me, personally, I find it very hard to ignore the style of delivery.

Some people that resonate with me are Ed Mylett, David Goggins, Jocko, and the likes...

Thank you for saying this, it's so important to reflect on who YOU are when you are the happiest. I am an INTJ-A and there are times when I have to be an extrovert to enjoy and times where I am perfectly okay in my home doing 'deep work' day in and day out. To each their own, I guess... =)

Basically this isn't even my final form.
So, that's where I know this line from haha, good times. [Excuse my noob-level gif game, CCarter]

At what point did you begin investing in stocks/index funds?

So far, I've been investing in my own sites, since I've increased the earnings about 100% since last year, which means about a 300% value increase (considering 36x resale).

Which is also why I haven't even considered investing in stocks etc.

I have debt, some I expect to go away, other debt will stay, such as tax debt. That's also a consideration in that money put into the business is much more difficult to for creditors to try to get.

I began putting money into index funds as soon as I had paid off my debts. The thing I've understood is that if your debts have a higher interest rate than the stock market, you're losing money by not paying off the debts.

Now, if the debt interest is less, then you might as well go for it.

By the way, has anyone else noticed an increase in the number of "Christmas in July" or "Christmas in the Summer" advertisements? I feel like I've been seeing them all over this month. I get the sense that companies are trying to spike that holiday buying frenzy in order to offset losses due to COVID, but I'm not sure that it will work well. Of course, nobody ever went broke underestimating the American public...

It's something that feels like it would fit in well with Carter's "unethical marketing hacks" thread.

Black Friday is going to be really fun this year. Zero competition with retail.

100%. The Shopping Network on T.V. had hours dedicated to this last week- Home Alone was even on T.V. as well, lol.

New stimulus checks. Who's taking?
Aren’t those stimulus checks for people who make less than $100k a year? Didn’t qualify for the last one. I’m suspect of anyone that says they got one cause of that simple qualification method...

Yup. I still qualify technically but never applied for either. Remember I lost it all just 2 years ago, ptting on a cape trying to save people.

This year's not reported yet. I just am not usre if i want to be in the computer period of anything with the Gov

The most amazing footage to me is the guys on the boat... you see that wave coming before their camera goes out. Hope anyone with family out there is okay.

I made a thread about the new gaming computer I put together and we got to talking about games. One of the games I bought was the 2016 Doom.

I played a few nights and then 3 night ago Steam & Bethesda ran a sale and botched it, which caused all their games (Doom included) to be unplayable and appear as if you didn't own the game. Then the next night Steam was down for emergency maintenance again.

Last night I finally was able to fire up the game again but Steam had corrupted my save file! So I started over on Easy mode (you can change difficulty at any time) and played the first 4 stages to 100% completion, finding the secrets and doing the challenges, in record time, just trying to catch up to where I was.

Then I immediately went to bed and had Doom dreams all night, lol.

All of that is the backstory just to tell you guys about part of the dream. At one point my dog was running around without the top of his skull with his brain exposed :D

But long story short, I came to my computer and my keyboard was this futuristic nonsense. It had raised keys like a mechanical keyboard (not the little chicklets like you find on an Apple keyboard or laptop). But you couldn't press the keys down. Instead, the top of each individual key was a trackpad that registered the fact that you touched it.

I woke up and thought "damn, that's the stupidest product idea ever but I bet it would sell, I'll tell the BuSo peeps about it." Now that hours have gone by and the dream has gradually faded as they do, I realize how utterly extra stupid that product would be, but also how stupid it would be to even share it with you all.

Yet here I am, doing just that. Thank you for your time and attention. This concludes story time with Uncle Ryu.

I came to my computer and my keyboard was this futuristic nonsense.

And this is coming from someone who uses a dvorak ergodox so that's really saying something

Is it my browser or has Google Ads on search begun popping in after page load, leading to misclicks?

Wow. Just had a car accident today. Same way it happened the only other time i've had one in my life...... Hydroplane but WOW.. talk about really seeing how faith works.

just like the first time.... but more eye opening

I landed between to cement poles approximately 60 feet apart.. ..... and inside of that was 2 groups of 2 cars paired... We landed right between those cars, went through a wire fence (above it some how).... we flipped, got turned side ways to then miss the two largest trees and be stopped by a smaller one at the end of a drag................

it all happened so fast, didn't feel like nothing.

I feel like I need to read the book of the Tibetan dead because................... i feel like i have some purpose and with each situation like this that passes, I'm being hinted that.......... my time's coming closer to an end.

I just hope I can make some changes before I'm out of here.... just like the stars , our energy burns out.. I know that... I hope that our soul become stars...............

Not worried or anything but just journaling what happened today and wondering if anyone's ever seen somethng like this.. like we have a certain amount of lives to lose before ultimate death b/c i feel everything comes with signs

Holy shit, is everyone ok? Thankfully I've never crashed "yet", I love racing but I hate when people go too fast on public roads, or they get too close on my back, they put themselves and other people in danger. I've had some close calls though since people sometimes drive like maniacs, nothing happened but the ABS come out more than once.

I've seen a few car accidents, I even saw a few live. A few cars upside down and some lorries destroyed.
I don't believe in "signs" or "destiny". If you want to avoid this kinds of crashes is actually not that hard, just do some basic maintenance and drive accordingly to the situation. If you make sure that your tires are good quality and are ok, with the right pressure, the car is well maintained and all of that, and if you drive a bit slower if It's raining or snowing, you are going to be fine, they are not certain amount of lives to lose before death, just please use your head. I want to see more of your journals mate so don't crash anymore haha.

The rental car company..... I just told the owner like 3-4 weeks ago stop renting cars with bad tires and shit too. This car looked new but the tires were click on the outside tread. Wasn't even a puddle.. just a little slickness on the road, and off into the woods we went
