2020 US Election

Where I live right now, minimum wage is $15 an hour. Guess how much it costs to rent a 1 bedroom apartment in a town in the middle of a frozen wasteland with a population of 18,000 people? $1200 a month if you know somebody. Decent cable and internet costs $170 a month and families are expected to have to pay around $670 more next year for groceries that are continually low-quality.

When the minimum wage increases, everything increases- for everybody. Also, the employees that used to work for 40 hours a week? They're now working for 29 hours a week or less, and their experience at work is worse because the employer now expects double the work to be done. That is, if the employer doesn't need to shut down.

BTW- Ask someone in a major city in Canada if $15 an hour is enough- not a single person working a minimum wage job will say yes. In order for people to live in a big city (which is where all the people who complain about minimum wage live/want to live) the minimum wage would need to be $18 an hour or more. The wage isn't the problem- the people and their $100 monthly mobile phone bills and Starbucks addictions are.

Yeah, I can walk into an emergency room, get prescribed the wrong antibiotics because the doctor I'm dealing with is a generalist, and get sent on my way. Then, I can wait for 2 months to see my GP so I can get referred to a specialist, and I can wait another 3+ months to see the specialist.

I had a health issue back in November of 2019 that didn't get resolved until August 2020. Without COVID, my problem wouldn't have been solved until April 2020- a 5 month wait during "good" times.

There's a reason why so many Canadians cross the border to get their medical issues solved...
Imagine making $15 p/hr (our min wage is $7.25) and trying to pay for your own health insurance on top of that. Imagine going bankrupt, because you can't pay for your hospital bills (many times basic care). Imagine having health insurance and getting rejected for a procedure, because although you have insurance, it doesn't cover it. Imagine having to choose between feeding your family or paying for your $750 p/month insulin or a life-saving drug that the manufacturers make for $3. These are just a few examples of the nightmare Americans deal with every-single-day. The system is broken. Your system is not perfect, but it's sure better than what we have. And the main reason Canadians come here (the ones that have the money) is for elective surgeries.

The system is broken. Your system is not perfect, but it's sure better than what we have.
Pluses and minuses are present in both situations in multiple areas. I'd imagine both of us would like our circumstances much more if we saw what people in Afghanistan have to deal with, for example.

The problem with this argument is, we don't live in Afghanistan. But let's not go off the rails here. The thread is about the election.

I pay 24k/year for health insurance that has a max out of pocket of 8k/family and individual deductible of 3,3k. Our system is broken and I would opt for Canada's every day of the week.

It's funny to me how many people live in this alternate reality. Yet another lawsuit that goes absolutely nowhere. Grandstanding by the GOP. Anyone who thinks otherwise is ignorant.
This is you coping with the fact that it's not a joke nor an alternate reality.

Let me break this lawsuit down for people who are actually interested in understanding what's happening.

18 states are suing 4 other ones where they all chose to run their elections in a manner that not only did not comply with their own state constitutions but also not with the federal constitution.

That's obviously a problem already, but why do 18 states care that much? Because, legally according to federal law, all ballots must be treated equally. Those states did not treat ballots equally. Some were allowed to be mailed in after the deadline. Many were counted in the absence of observers. So on and so forth. We're talking substantial amounts.

So then why is THAT a problem? Because this election affects who becomes the Vice President.

Why do the states care about who is the Vice President? Because the Vice President is the President of the Senate. The senate is the part of Congress where each state gets equal representation not based on population. Each state gets two senators, and the senate votes often come very close, or actually come to, a 50/50 tie. And the person that gets to cast the tie breaking vote is the Vice President.

So if the Vice President is elected in such a way that did not follow state AND federal constitutions, and that Vice President ends up casting tie breaking votes, then the 50 states did not receive equal representation in the Senate. At that point, the whole thing is a sham.

All of that is fact. This is where I go into my speculation about how this is going to go. All of the ballots that were not treated equally under the constitutions will be discarded. ALL of them, because "fraud vitiates all". What that means is "one bad apple spoils the bunch" because you can't tell if only 1 or 500,000 ballots were fraudulent. So they all have to go.

There's a reason it's only these swing states that pulled these stunts. They were the ones that could have gone either way. Say what you will but obviously some shenanigans were afoot, and here we are. Late mail-in votes were being backdated, they were being "dumped" at 4AM in batches with 100,000+ that went 98% for one candidate. They were being weighted by algorithms. They were counted without observers through deceit (water mains busting). This is all provable, but doesn't have to be proved. All that has to be argued is that these states didn't follow their own or the federal constitution. The details don't matter beyond that, because the result is the same: the ballots have to be tossed out.

I don't see how universal healthcare would be possible as a uniform rule across all the very different states.

So high tax states are going to pay for the low tax states or how will it work?

This is you coping with the fact that it's not a joke nor an alternate reality.........

This post is just pure crazyness and no part of it really needs debunking since the courts have done that 50+ times already. No one has shared any evidence of backdating of mail in ballots and the reason you have large vote "dumps" is because THREE state legislatures decided not to allow the pre-processing of mail in ballots. Many states utilize VBM(Vote by Mail) and most of them allow pre-processing of them prior to election day so this specifically does not happen. Florida and Arizona come to mind.

You live in a fantasy world and you are letting grifters and fuckwits sell you on a potential outcome that is just not possible. If you are confident enough I am willing to place bets.

There are battleground states that were better equipped to handle the expected influx in mail-in ballots. Arizona and Florida, for example, already had a significant portion of the electorate that voted by mail prior to this year, and their state laws reflected that -- giving officials more time to process those ballots ahead of Election Day.

This is the "cope" I'm talking about. How is the actual court case pure craziness? You think the Supreme Court hears pure craziness?

You also don't know what you're talking about. The lower courts have NOT heard these arguments or dismissed them 50+ times. What they dismissed were civilian cases and cases by Sydney Powell that dealt with fraud. But they also all were ran by activist judges who refused to even hear the evidence. They didn't debunk anything, because they didn't hear the cases. The activist media is lying to you.

Did you know that? They dismissed them without hearing the evidence? No, you didn't. You should look into the faulty reasons they actually dismissed the cases for. Such as "you haven't suffered any damages" or "you should have brought this case months ago before the election", etc. Nobody is surprised the cases were dismissed because our justice system is full of activists who are now not afraid to act in a biased fashion.

And all dismissing the cases achieved was fast tracking them to appeals court where the same thing happened and then they would all get pushed up to the Supreme Court. But at the end of the day, instead of hearing 25+ cases, 18 states and counting got smart and created a super-mega case, which is what's going to be heard by the court that follows the constitution.

If you think anything that's "a joke" or "grandstanding" or "pure crazyness" makes it to the Supreme Court, I don't know what to tell you. Yesterday you didn't even think the Supreme Court would hear this case. My how the tables turn.

Don't you know all those sites and more are just the LAMEstream media trying to...uh...push the leftist socialist agenda? Come on, man.

It's not like there's a whole deep state out there that somehow messed up so bad they let in the only person that could uproot them into one of, if not THE, highest position of power in the world. It's not like Joe was Sleepy a few weeks ago and now he's some mastermind behind a multistate conspiracy conducting voter fraud.

At least (I hope) we can all agree that Epstein didn't kill himself.

This will not be "heard" by the supreme court. Why don't we place a bet that they do not hear oral arguments on the case?

Reallocation of funds might be easier with a couple of less wars.
Yup, not going to argue here.

The Supreme court is an appellate court. You can't submit new evidence. This will be another 9-0 decision by SCOTUS (if it gets heard). Dragging out the inevitable. It's over...he lost.

I'm with @bash though. I'll throw some money down if you really think this goes the other way. I've been making a lot of money this last month from my Republican buddies.

The rabbit hole runs deep. Who are the Q believers here?

RNC has raised over $200 million since the defeat. After the Supreme court tosses, then they are going to try and pull a stunt in Congress with Safe Harbor Day, which will fail too. By that time, Trump made every Republican kiss the ring, or else which solidifies him as the defacto Caesar of the party with a huge war chest.

It all comes down to Georgia. If Republicans win, Trump will control Mitch and gridlock. If Democrats win then I'm not sure what Trump does, but it will be interesting to watch.

I can't wait for Trump the movie, I think it should be like Godfather and break it up into 4 movies.

This, once again, isn't true, though it is true only in general. The constitution allows for cases to be newly filed (not appealed) directly to the Supreme Court, which is how this case is being done. ALL of it is new evidence that hasn't been heard yet. The kind of cases that are allowed to be directly filed are those that are between two or more states (this case):

28 U.S. Code § 1251. Original jurisdiction

(a) The Supreme Court shall have original and exclusive jurisdiction of all controversies between two or more States.

shhh they are holding their super secret evidence for clarence thomas!

BREAKING NEWS: Alaska, Ohio, and Pennsylvania -- yes, the same Pennsylvania being sued -- are in for Teflon Don.

Here's an article from back in October that has leftists waking up in cold sweats:

U.S. Supreme Court declines to change Wisconsin's voting rules, keeps Election Day deadline for mailed ballots - Milwaukee Journal Sentinel

The ruling was 5-3 -- it came in between RBG's death and the Glorious ACB's confirmation.

The money shot:

"The Constitution provides that state legislatures — not federal judges, not state judges, not state governors, not other state officials — bear primary responsibility for setting election rules," Justice Neil Gorsuch wrote in a concurring opinion.

If this precedent is carried over to the current suit, Donald Trump stays in office.

Even more worrying for the left? Pennsylvania's released their preliminary defense, and it's a rambling pile of nothingness with a dash of idiocy.

It's basically one long, substance-free denial of the facts. Not very persuasive, to say the least.

I don't want to upset anyone here, but it's looking like Trump is staying in office.

The good thing about Fox News is the day time is the reality with a right lean, and nighttime talk show riles you up. This typically keeps viewers in balance. But, if you go all-in NewsMax then reality is lost.

The supreme court will 100% not accept. I am just hoping that they write a beautifully written opinion piece on democracy, the constitution, and all 9 sign-on. I hope Amy Coney Barrett writes most of it as the newest originalist on the court.

Country before Trump.

Sheee...dog...you're making way too much sense. Did you take a class in college called "Critical Thinking 101"?

Lol. I thought about trying to make money on these guys and came up with the shirt below and I was going to promote it on the far-right sites. I thought it was funny and showed my wife, and then she gave a look and said that's some "bad karma right there". I felt bad and pulled it.

Now that's the correct way to play this. Appeal to emotion? $$$

Team Trump still sounds supremely confident. I think we've all overblown the importance of Texas' suit. Trump still has an ace up his sleeve, and if it's what I think it is, it's going to be glorious.

The Dominion Voting machines were audited in Michigan, and the results showed a level of cheating that's almost beyond belief.

The left fought to keep the results sealed from the public, for obvious reasons, and their obedient puppets in the media went along with it.

Michigan legislature committees subpoena election evidence from Detroit and nearby suburb - Just The News

Arizona is next in line to be audited. Results should be back within a week.

There's growing confidence the Arizona audit will show a similar level of cheating as the one in Michigan, and that the vote will be decertified.

Nevada's also looking dirty.

And we've got a signature-match audit coming in Georgia.
