If a brand or product has negative Reddit threads ranking on Google… what actually helps fix that? Ignoring it doesn’t seem to work and jumping in defensively can make things worse.
Curious what you’ve seen work:
  • Is it better to respond directly in the thread, or leave it alone?
  • Does building positive Reddit activity elsewhere help SEO over time?
  • Can reputation really be “repaired” on Reddit, or is it more about damage control?
  • Any real examples where a bad Reddit thread stopped ranking?
Trying to understand what actually improves search results long term — not quick fixes.
Would love to hear real experiences.

Back in the day people spent tons of energy, time, and money contacting sites with negative reviews or opinions and trying to pay them to take the article or thread down.

Eventually a handful of us wised up and realized that you're better off getting a positive review or thread posted and then outrank the original. Because for most sites, only one thread or article will appear in the search results at a time. So your goal is not to get the bad one taken down, but to overtake it's slot in the SERPs.

That's easier said than done with Reddit when Google will now show a slew of Reddit posts in the "discussion" panel in the search results. But the concept is still applicable. Every slot lower a negative thread ranks, the drastically less click-through-rating and traffic it will receive. So you need new threads created, you need engagement in them in the form of comments to fluff them out, and then maybe build some links to them.

And you end up pushing the negative thread down in the search rankings so, while it still may exist, it gets a fraction of the traffic the good threads do, and the positive sentiment vastly outweighs the negative.

I specialize in reddit and stilll keep up with it but not so focused on it anymore.

I understand how reddit works to a T. I understand how it's manipulated for Influence, reputation, and marketing. I know many people who still do it today.

You can Get the post taken down. There's people who can 'snipe' accounts and get all their content banned -- fairly easy if the account is active

If the account is dead that made the post, then you are probably better off getting someone to do a reputation repair job as said above by @Ryuzaki . Get positive work done the move that down out of view.

Appreciate the insight — that matches a lot of what I’ve observed as well.

I’m not looking to get anything force-removed or do anything sketchy, especially since most of the Reddit mentions I’m seeing are old, low-volume, and not outright false. My main concern is more about how AI search and SERPs are disproportionately weighting a very small sample of outdated Reddit discussions versus years of real usage and positive outcomes.

At this point I’m trying to understand the cleanest, sustainable way to rebalance that signal, whether that’s: structured reputation repair, creating newer, and factual context that reflects the current state of the product

If you (or anyone here) know reputable services or individuals who focus on this, I’d love to get pointed in the right direction. I don't use nor understand Reddit well enough to engage when it makes sense,

Thanks again @GNews — solid perspective.

I have done this in the past and it works great:

setup a subreddit that you control. setup a thread that is optimized to rank for your brand. Get people to post positive on it. Then, run a small ppc campaign (bid on your brand terms) to it ongoing and monitor responses, delete the bad ones (becauese its under your subreddit) . allows you to get genuine positive/neutral/question comments, over time. allows you to answer questions etc.. and the thread can naturally grow from the ppc ads over time and outrank the bad stuff.

Then, repeat so you have multiple threads like this going.

Glad It helps. I'm the best persona at reddit that I know honestly.

And that's not because there are not others, it's just I've never used groups to find others to 'think tank' in this space. Did not have the need.

I made posts on BHW about karma creation (a natural way) that was so good that Reddit's mod teams doxxed me and tried to ban all my profiles at the time lol This was probably 3 years ago. And also some posts about reputation building . Search "reddit karma for dumimes bhw' on google and you'll find a post and can search other posts for 'reddit' via that profile - should offer some great DIY information.

I was shown the platform by the "OG" of reddit marketing to. A guy who now many know as "Kev De Gods" today.

I dont really engage with clients today that aren't of 5 figure potential for me to earn . If there's this sort of funding, we can set up a post here on BuSO with the terms and work something out. If not, I totally understand and would suggest reading those posts mentioned above.

so you recommend doing it from a brand Reddit account or personal reddit account?
