How Does Reddit Detect Previously Banned Users?

I will try using Sphere as suggested in the first page. That combined with TMAC might do the trick.

-------

I think i figured it out

As long as a unique fingerprint information shows up on http://f.vision/ reddit will detect and ban you. You can change your IP by contacting your ISP and get back on the website, but you will still be filtered out from the subreddits you've been banned.

So unless there is an app that completely spoofs your pixel trackers, they will find a way to detect you, which is why with VPN and anti trackers they just take longer to find you.

I think i'm very close of figuring it out, all i need is a Proxy Server like Ultrasurf that doesnt leak your IP from time to time. If anyone knows a similar free proxy server, that would help immensely.

I have sucessefully figured out how to avoid the side-wide ban, but i did not figured out how to avoid the automatic subreddit ban, it's seems it's not related to neither VPN, fingerprint, nor Mac Address, and it's probably tied to behavior. I would have confirmation if i had access to a 2+ month old account.

Can someone explain to me why you people have such a hard-on for Reddit?
How do you even get banned?

You see a bunch of children being murderered in Ukraine, and add the comment that you would have no problem to pull the trigger and kill one of thos guys who did this. *Bam* account banned because of hate speach(?) against people commiting war crimes on a daily base.

And in some other reddits you either follow the subreddit majority, or if you post something which is not 100% according to their bubble, they use the "dog whistling" excuse to ban you. Wasted time to opose.

My new accs work. All I had to do was to avoid switching to a banned one too fast, because then a function linking different accounts based on a timeframe and identical IP kicked in and the accs got banned.

But just to be sure I am now creating new accounts every 2-3 day and put them in "sleeping mode". just in case.

I contacted my ISP and asked them for an IP change. Did not work. At this point idk of what is flagging me. (Could be the I.P location) and VPNs dont work.

All i figured out is that using a randomized fingerprint + vpn will make you avoid being banned sitewide but you still get flagged by the subreddit automatic spam filter/bot for whatever reason. None of my previously three accounts were suspended yet, only in a certain subreddit.

That didnt work for me, they eventually catch you.

I'm out of options now so i might as well give up.

My recent account got banned. I was doing fine until I logged into an old banned account. I had deleted cookies at every step, but I still got banned.

Anyway, how many hours/days should I wait until I create new accounts? Then, how many hours should I wait between each account creation?

Reddit uses Cookies + IP + Fingerprinting to detect ban evaders. It doesnt matter how long you wait between bans. Even if you evade the site-wide ban, you will still be detected by the subreddits you were banned.

What I can't confirm is the fingerprinting stuff. Pages like http://f.vision always go crazy and spit out tons of "fake response" warnings when I visit them due to some browser addons I am using. If reddit uses such a method, it will fail.

Here is f.visions result on my system

But what works is to avoid logging into banned accounts without waiting for several hours and deleting cookies, something which also happens automatically in my browser as soon as I close a tab and didn't whitelist the page in the plugin. I have no idea how long you have to wait, but I normally wait at least 6-8 hours, so I only switch accounts over night. I also don't switch often, because I normally create a bunch of fresh accounts over a period of time and leave them untouched until an older one hits a ban. This reduces the risk of "cross linking" accounts by switching too fast.

I don't use the official app to access reddit because I don't trust it.

I clean up the history of the old account by editing&deleting all posts, so no admin can manually track me by comparing old and new comments. And no personal data in any comment.

Last but not least: I don't go to reddit to harass people. I am normally banned by accidentially offending mods by having an opionion which is not aligned with the subreddit but still is according to official law and also not against the rules of the subreddit. They use a vague excuse ("dog whistling") where you have zero chance to prove that you didn't think what the mod thought when he interpreted your comment (or didn't do this and just banned you because your opinion might be valid but not according to the bubble he is in) and another acc hits the dust. Happens, who cares, waste of time to discuss this with the mods which simply block you. Next acc, here we come....

I'm pretty sure comments are only hidden, not deleted.

I get sitewide banned when I visit a subreddit I was permabanned from years ago. It's an absurd vendetta considering it was over some political bs, on which they later changed their rules to allow what I wrote.

What I can't understand is how they spot it.

What you can always do, if you only want to use your account once, is to go to the local electronics market and use their PC's/phones. Besides analyzing you typing behaviour there isn't much to identify you.

Also I'm wondering if it would work using all the features of a privacy OS like Kodachi.

About the hidden comments: this is well known that they keep them hidden but don't delete them. So what I do is to use a script to first overwrite the content with trash, save it, and then delete it. I am not aware they keep a history of all versions of a comment, but if I find out that they e.g. keep up to ten versions, I will rewrite the program so it just edits the text 11 times before deleting it.

About the sidewide bans: no idea how they get you. I am active in all the old subreddits without problems.

What i did figured out is that by changing your IP and using Brave you can bypass site-wide bans but i still get banned from the subreddits i want to participate and filtered out, it's so fucking annoying.

What are the traces that you leave behind that makes them identify your alt?

And how to start a complete new account leaving out no trace at all? For me I believe they found out by looking at my profile and I used to post to "country specific" subreddit. So that gave them an idea who was me.

Some even claimed to find me by my sentences/comments. I suspect if they did as I have never tested myself with pure account without any participations in my "country subreddits".

what are some other ideas? paraphrasing definitely helps, but honestly nb reads your comments if you start to paraphrase as it becomes robotic. Are there any great paraphrasers which can just change your sentence, but the quality of sentence remains intact that people read that?

Share your thoughts about this issue? How to not get identified easily again? Honestly, once you use a subreddit for 30+ days actively, I feel people can easily identify your account. I should be deleting accounts every 20 days for that.

I figured it out: It's all tied to behaviour. Even if you manage to avoid the site wide suspension (which is IP tied and it's easy to evade) mods will somehow recognize you and ban you, because that's how much pitful they are (lmao).

So unless you have knowledge on how to invade reddit accounts or has enough money to spare to hire an unethical hacker to get rid of the mods account, you will be unable to participate in the subreddits you used to participate.

My advice is: Find another website where the mods aren't cunts, which is what i did.

I'm surprised you took it so long to figure out auto-sub ban. It's pretty easy. If you're highly active in a sub and posted more than 100 UNIQUE comments(not the casual reddit jokes and "aww..so good.." types of comments), then almost everyone will identify you if you come with an alt. Doesn't matter if the subreddit is small or big. It's that easy.
What I'm not understanding is how to evade the IP ban? (My new account gets shadowbanned after around 3 hrs without doing anything in that account). But I am still able to access my old reddit account without any problem till now. But I'd like to diversify my content as if I keep posting everything with my current account, everyone will identify me there and if sth happens and I get banned, they'll all know.

What worked for you for IP ban?
What I've tried-:
1) New IP
2) New browser
3) Installing and removing extensions in all browser, changing the fingerprints.
4) Used gmail, and new temporary emails.
5) Deleted cookies and overall history of every browser(suspecting some cross-browser information checks by reddit).
I don't see anything else that can be done tbh(sth which is worth it to do to use reddit). Do you've any ideas. In the past, after doing this much I'd easily be able to build a new reddit account.

I don't see a single instance where these people are making money, serious money, from Reddit. I think it's just procrastination and some hobby shit for the people that seem to want to waste time with the platform.

It was literally created for whiners. How much money do you think you can make off of them??!?

Can someone explain to me why you people have such a hard-on for Reddit?
I honestly agree. I personally use reddit to ask academic and educational types of questions. (And I used to be participate in some hobby forums like sports and movies). Reddit is extremely useles-:
- I've asked 1000+ questions there(with variety of accounts), and till now not even a single useful reply have came.
-When you stay in reddit, you become a sicko. Most people who use it are mentally unhealthy and mentally ill. You use it and IDK what is chicken and what is egg, but you also become mentally unhealthy. You ask questions in reddit "How to get out of _____", and those who are themselves suffering and suicidal give you advice LOL. And you delay your treatment.
-You can't have an opinion in reddit(No hatred opinion, a polite one). It's kind of hit and miss. If you're interested in 2-3 things and give your opinions on them, people suspect you are "ANTI THAT THING" and brigaders from various parts of the world come to downvote you and attack you in DM. their only goal is to get your reaction, hope you reply sth stupid, screenshot it and REPORT the comment. VOILA. Their plan is successful. Moderators of reddit barely have any time to wait and thing "Should I ban this guy?", all they do is look at reports and if they feel it's not VERY NICE, voila you're banned.
-Reddit has set of propaganda. It's just a propaganda machine. Don't even imagine in your dreams you could even share a logical opinion there. There are some subs like exRELIGIONABCD which are still not banned(I'm surprised that they've not banned it as they hate free speech against certain communities).
-Reddit is full of censorship.
-Main thing, reddit isn't useful for anything. If you want to share links, nb reads your posts, all they do is to read the headline. Even if they read, unless your website is made by Bill Gates and is totally ad-free and FREE OF COST to view, they'll comment some shit that will affect your reputation if you are in a big game. I laugh at people who spam in forums to promote their product. LOL. just build a good product, get an investor and do the advertisements PAID ones. Don't waste time writing blogs so that you could earn adsense income, that doesn't work in 2022.(<1% bloggers cross 100$ per month consistently. That's how pathetic blogging is if you write to get adsense income.)
It isn't useful for the educational purpose that I want. stackexchange is far better.
-You're right most are there JUST TO WASTE THEIR TIME BECAUSE THEY'RE ADDICTED TO THE SITE. I HONESTLY FEEL GOOD THAT I WAS BANNED, I WASTE SOOO LESS TIME ON REDDIT THESE DAYS(I STILL HAVE 1 ACCOUNT UNBANNED NOT SURE HOW LOL).
-I still ask educational types of questions there, not because I'll get a well carved answer, but
a) It helps me to clear my confusion(not get answer but clear what the confusion really was). Just asking question helps.
b) Sometimes people will spam some wikipedia links so you know what topic you've to learn to learn this concept.
In my 2-3 years journey of asking educational questions in reddit, I've not for once got a genuine helpful reply that was relevant to the question I asked and solved it.
It'd be good if I quit it altogether. Anyways, I did extremely well in my academics when I didn't use reddit. It's never been proven that using reddit helped me in courses, so it's a vanity that I keep using sth that has NEVER BEEN PROVEN to help me in my goal. (I was a marketer in the past as well so I know that too doesn't work in reddit).
I would love to know how to evade IP bans because that is a good concept to learn, but I won't fret if I don't learn it as it's pointless for my GOAL.

I wasn't being auto banned by the sub. Everytime i changed my IP and used a new account, the automoderator would remove any of my comments and posts, i couldn't figure out why. I was also testing multiple evading possibilities, which is why it took me 6+ months to figure everything out.

What I'm not understanding is how to evade the IP ban? (My new account gets shadowbanned after around 3 hrs without doing anything in that account). Reddit will automatically shadowban you if you use a VPN or ToR to post on the website.

Reddit detects IP, cookies and fingerprints to warrant ban evaders. The only browser that succesefully counters that is Brave. Firefox, Chrome and Edge didn't work for whatever reason. You dont need a valid email to use Reddit,

To evade an IP ban, all you need is a VPN and Brave Browser with hardened anti-fingerprint settings. But you will be unable to post periodically and you may get shadowbanned or detected by the mods due to your behaviour. So if you want to post normally you need to change your static IPV4.

The only true effective way to evade Reddit bans is to get a new computer and call your ISP to change your house internet router/Static IP, delete your banned accounts, create a new account under the new IP and wait 60+ days (you can also buy a Reddit account).

Evading Reddit bans is not worth the ammount of work you have to go through, go to another website which doesn't have neckbeard mods. Reddit is going to implode itself because of the powermods eventually.

You know if you guys just use Firefox or even Microsoft Edge (Chromium based) there are easy setting to auto-delete your cookies, localstorage, and data everything your browser closes. Firefox has had since day 1. In fact all browser except Chrome do.

It's only Chrome that acts like a terrorist and make you jump through hoops to clear cookies and local data.

I sincerely hope for all this effort you guys are using Reddit to generate revenue... because: Reddit users are the least valuable of any social network

Remember Reddit was created for the primary purpose of whining and complaining on the internet. Just keep that in mind as you explore subreddits. Their underlying mission is to complain, not really to spend money. Just scroll through the frontpage and ask yourself when you read each headline: "Is this user whining or complaining?" More then 50% of the time, yes.

You'll quickly realize, unless you are trolling for dollars, you might be wasting your time with that audience.
LOL... yes, its true. Most Posts are Whiners Bitching bout 'Conservatives, Trump and all Republicans' ~ Most Redditors are liberals who hate anything to do with Conservative politics (or anything remotely indicates you could be). IF you have a sense of justice regardless of party affiliation, and its against a liberal perspective, YOU WILL GET BANNED from Reddit (just a question of time).

ON THE PLUS side, Reddit does have some Unique Sub-reddits for Hobby Enthusiast where like minds share information.

I've was banned recently after 5 yrs. I got feed up with a few Leftoid remarks and blasted them. They didn't like this... 1rst was a temporary ban (3 days), then 7 days and finally a permanent suspension. I changed my ip address and setup a new email account and rejoined....but then got banned again.

My hunch is Reddit tracks the MAC address of your Router. Some how they get access to this (i don't know how), but from what i'm reading, this is how they track you. IF you can obtain a new MAC address, and IP (ip is easy), then you can create a new identity with a new email.

I'm working on getting back on as there are Forums on Reddit that i do enjoy and haven't found a substitute for.

Unrelated to any of my main projects, I use a combination of TMAC to change my Mac address, a VPN and an incognito/private/whatever window in an alternate browser that I don't use for anything else to evade bans successfully.
thanks Jesse,
I heard the only way to change a MAC address on your router is if the router has a MAC Clone feature (and even then, it only addes extentsions to your MAC).

....now what is this TMAC ...?

No website has access to your Router MAC Address other than you and your ISP.

Reddit uses browser fingerprinting and your IP. If you want to go back to Reddit, call your ISP to change your router and download Brave.

dude I figured out everything with a very small test.
I hope you've tried everything else written elsewhere about how to evade bans (most of them are just telling you to try new email, new Ip by restarting router, new profile, new browser, clear cookies, ....bla bla). It used to work, now it doesn't work.
Reddit bans you by hardware id+browser fingerprinting as well. I tried to make a reddit account from another laptop of a person using the same wifi.
The account isn't yet shadowbanned. I've found a tutorial that looks like it'd work for hwid bans, I am not 100% sure. Turns out this types of bans are pretty common in most places(games, discords etc).
I'm surprised reddit took so long to implement it.
But the thing is sad for us who want to discuss in reddit. We can no more put our ideas in reddit because that'd again get us banned and this thing is a pure hassle and somewhat harmful to your laptop half-life as well.
But we can leech there by asking for HELP posts with multiple alts. Thanks god, now I'll no more waste time on reddit.

I will give you website link to email or sth if you need.. I won't share the website name because many idiots will see this and that method will stop working.

Reddit uses browser fingerprinting and your IP. If you want to go back to Reddit, call your ISP to change your router and download Brave.
This simply doesn't work. The reason this post exists is that restarting router(dynamic IP i.e it changes every restart) stopped working for many. I've found a fix though haha. Thankfully, I don't have to buy a VPN (they've not banned the prefix given by ISP to create new accounts).

One thing you guys should consider is if the reason you get banned is for "ban evasion" that is, going back to the subs you were permabanned in.

That's the thing that gets me every time. If I stay out of that one or two subs, then I am allowed to keep my account. I also got Admins to sanction a mod, that was digging through post history etc. Reddit has a lot of batshit insane mods.

I still don't get how these specific subs can see it is me.

I got banned for a location sub merely for joining. They must have some internal tool for the mods to use.

They can still track you via VPN with browser fingerprinting and they can shadowban you. If you want to share the method which worked for you, go ahead. Like i sad, Brave Browser + VPN/proxy is what worked for me (besides changing my main router) for evading the site-wide ban.

Exactly what you said. Reddit mods leave and breath reddit, they dont do nothing in their lifes other than post on Reddit, which is why ban evasion is extraordinarly hard, they care too much about their precious "kingdoms". Even after changing my entire computer fingerprinting and ISP did not work, they eventually realized who i was.

Btw, do not join subreddits. Your account gets permanently attached to it. You need to delete your account to evade the site wide ban.
