IMO, Trump needs to leave. He:
  1. Withheld pay for a month to federal workers last year because of a political dispute. Even if the Government was a business, according to his rhetoric, I'd kick him out of the CEO position. That's not ethical business behavior in my books. This guy gives no fucks about his employees. He only cares about people in his tribe.
  2. Appointed Betsy Devos as Secretary of Education. Her family got rich running a MLM scheme. She isn't advocating for education. What she wants is an uneducated society, masquerading as an educated one. It's like saying that the education from an online university is similar to a classroom university. It's not.
  3. Waited too long to take action on COVID-19, downplayed the dangers of COVID-19, and then wants to lift travel restrictions, before proper scientific data is available.
  4. Has no background in politics. He's a reality TV star and businessman. He's not fit to be president.
Thank you for your service. We've had our entertainment. Now, please leave soon-to-be Former President Trump.

Also, if you haven't figured it out, he's gonna blab on Twitter once he's out of the White House. Obama kept out of politics after he got out. Trump won't. Trust me. We're gonna hear from him, as Former President Donald Trump, until he dies.

  1. That was the dems fault, stop watching fake news. His tribe is AMERICA, and you're gosh darn right that's who he cares about.
  2. Oh sorry is being good at business a crime now? Didn't realize America had gone full-commie already.
  3. China's fault, and by taking the virus seriously you're directly advocating for infinitely more people to die from *checks notes* getting hit on the head by falling stock prices. You think the world's wealthiest country can afford to partial shut down for long enough to save lives? Lemme guess you also advocate for everyone to lose their livelihoods each year during flu season, right? Do you really hate business and freedom this much?
  4. No background in politics - lol wut? Now you're just trolling. He's been president for over 3 years - what greater background in politics could you possibly ask for?

The president needs to be better at politics, instead of resorting to holding people's paychecks at ransom. Whatever happened to compromise?

Red herring.

Slipper slope.

Red herring.

No background in politics before he became president. Usually, for a job, you want someone with experience. He had no experience. At least Obama was a political science professor. Other politicians started out at the local and state level, before becoming president. That's experience.

Why did you vote for him?

When you can't refute the facts of an argument so you cherry-pick the logical fallacies instead. Maybe far-left msnbcnn viewers would fall for that but this is BuSo, bucko.

If you applied for a job, I would look at the experience you had when you applied, not the experience that you had years before applying when you were less experienced. Your point makes sense in 2016, not 2020.

Imagine you worked as Junior SEO from 2011-2016, then in 2016 you got a job as Lead SEO, then in 2020 you applied for another job as Lead SEO at another company and the hiring manager said "Sorry, back in 2016 you didn't have any experience as Lead SEO, so today you aren't qualified even though you've been doing the job for years."

WHY I VOTED FOR TRUMP:
1. Cos he tells it like it is.
2. To save the country from devil-worshiping cultist spirit-cooking SJWs who want to turn the White House into a pizza parlor.
3. Her e-mails.
4. I didn't vote for him and I'm not being sincere in my replies here but I guess my dry satire didn't come across very well. Sorry OP, I'll see myself out, didn't mean to scuff up your thread. Good luck. (The apology is proof I'm Canadian.)
5. Benghazi.

You're sympathetic of Trump and are from Canada. Got it.

Do you think Joe Biden would be a better option?

While I dislike Joe Biden, I'm open to anyone else besides Trump. I'd rather have Bernie run the Democratic ticket; but, that's not happening.

Withheld pay for a month to federal workers last year because of a political dispute. Even if the Government was a business, according to his rhetoric, I'd kick him out of the CEO position. That's not ethical business behavior in my books. This guy gives no fucks about his employees. He only cares about people in his tribe.

I see your story about employees and the connection you making, but lets face it.. this guy was voted into the CEO position. It's not like he started the country and hired those workers in, making a bond with them. It's more like ( im gonna still be off ), the company was already there and running and a VC firm came in and took over. VC's implant there own people into the company and don't care about who is already there. But this has been happening for more than 250 years now and it's not unique to Trump. Every president has was put in this way.

So while Trump might not care, that system and attitude has been going on for a while. I would also vote to say it's not his job to care about JUST the federal workers like @Potatoe said, but the good of all Americans.

Also, federal workers didn't get a check for a month? Boo Who. Didn't they get back pay on that? So they got their money, just late. I could be wrong about the back pay, I admit that.

Many small business owners, waiters, and more are going into their second month with no paycheck atm. EIDL and PPP are broke systems that left millions without income still and several states are still messed up on their unemployment and haven't got it right yet. Those that can't get on unemployment, will be without NO CHECK for unknown future months and won't be getting it later either to make up for it, destroying families and careers.

If you pick a battle, don't pick fed workers missing a month, but pick this shutdown and what it does to small business and small workers who may never see money for multiple months or years.

Appointed Betsy Devos as Secretary of Education. Her family got rich running a MLM scheme. She isn't advocating for education. What she wants is an uneducated society, masquerading as an educated one. It's like saying that the education from an online university is similar to a classroom university. It's not.

Only gripe I have here is, if you are talking strictly curriculum and grading, online education is the same as classroom.

I have personal experience in this, from multiple positions over multiple years and experiences with companies that deal with this.

If you are talking networking, connections, bonding, and all the "feel goody stuff".. yeah you are right.

I am only wanting to pick out the "get the degree training" part of this being the same as I have a lot of experience in this field.

Also, if in some odd world I agree with you that the education is not the same.. 95% of employers don't care.

Unless you applying for the VP or C role at a medium sized corp ( most people won't be applying for this ) or a junior role at some really prestigious company ( Google, Amazon, etc ) where they care you went to Stanford or MIT, most other roles at companies don't care. So for the majority of people in the world, getting a MBA from University of Louisville, is the same as getting an MBA at Phoenix University. They aren't going to care if you got it online or in-class either.

In my experience, they don't even check if you have a degree.

Again, I make exceptions for employers like Google or Amazon, or if you going right into a VP or C class position. However, most people aren't getting those jobs when you look at all of America.

Waited too long to take action on COVID-19, downplayed the dangers of COVID-19, and then wants to lift travel restrictions, before proper scientific data is available.

The world doesn't revolve around scientific data. Before science was even mainstream, the world had been doing just fine. A lot of countries ruled by their religion and did great things.

Many of them fell too, but you can't say it was because they didn't have science.

What if scientific data doesn't come for years? You think we should be in "ban mode" for years?

Has no background in politics. He's a reality TV star and businessman. He's not fit to be president.

Do you really think he doesn't have a background in politics?

Sure, maybe not a held office.

But the guy has been greasing palms and "running the show" behind a lot of politicians over the years to get what he wants. The guy knows how the game is played and has played it for years.

He might not have held an official office, but he basically is the next best step from it and probably has "owned the office" someone else held.

This isn't Joe Exotic from Oklahoma coming out of nowhere trying to be president.

Based on results though, he is at least at the min doing the same as everyone else before him. Winning some, losing some. Hardly any promises really kept. But that is how everyone else before him did too.

Also, if you haven't figured it out, he's gonna blab on Twitter once he's out of the White House. Obama kept out of politics after he got out. Trump won't. Trust me. We're gonna hear from him, as Former President Donald Trump, until he dies.

I consider this nothing. I mean, we have people all over the TV, radio, and social media blabbing. Why would we care if Trump did. He will prob write a book too and do a webinar on how you too can become president.

If you don't like it ( like me ) just shut your newsfeed down.

Not to pick on @Philip J. Fry , but in another thread ( the Corona one ) he does want free healthcare, education, early child support, unemployment for anyone that wants it, etc.

I can't say he wants people to die or lose their livelihoods, but I can't see how we could afford the things he wants as a country.

Def leaning left.

The president needs to be better at politics, instead of resorting to holding people's paychecks at ransom. Whatever happened to compromise?

Who's paycheck did he hold at ransom? If you talking about the federal workers, did they get their pay back? I'm too lazy to look myself atm.

Fair enough! All I’ll say is, a vote for Biden isn’t really a vote for Biden- it’s a vote for the business Dems who hangout in the swamp.

Bernie was passionate, but your bank account will be much healthier since he lost. Take it from me, the guy living in Canada, socialized services are not as good as some people in the USA say they are (plus they’re expensive as heck).

If it were me, I’d suffer through 4 more years of Trump- at least you’ll have some choice in regards to where your money goes, as opposed to having it ripped from your hand only to go to people (citizens) who don’t give a crap about you or your family.

You're sympathetic of Trump and are from Canada. Got it.

No, I was joking around and being ridiculously over the top, which you know already, because I told you this. Before your first reply to me in this thread. Remember? And then you told me I should state in the thread that I was joking, which I did just that, and even apologized for taking it off topic of a serious discussion. Why are you pretending none of this happened?

Sometimes I forget we're living in a post satire world. It's my fault, not OP's. Mistakes were made. Stay safe everyone, and I hope nobody bleaches themselves. Strangely relevant:

Too bad you can't vote for him ;P

You can afford to pay more, @eliquid, you're rich

What makes you think a for-profit organization would do a better job than the government?

I have a better time calling my municipal water company than calling most company's support department. Only a for-profit entity would keep you on the line for 30 minutes, before they'll let you end your monthly contract. Only a for-profit entity will fuck you over, for $50. At least with the municipal water company, they know that they live in the city too. They actually have a reason to be a good neighbor.

You can afford to pay more, @eliquid, you're rich

But that's where people with your same thinking are wrong.

Just because someone can or could do something, doesn't mean you can force them to do it.

I could say you could afford to give up one of those apartment rentals to students for free since you have more than 1. How would you feel that just because you could, someone forced you into it?

It's not someone doing something to you, personally. It's the state. The state has sovereignty.

You act as if the state doesn't get involved in people's lives. It does. Here are examples: it garnishes wages for taxes, it sends payments to stimulate the economy, it bails out companies, it sends subsidies to companies, and so forth.

You might not have ever consented to every law in the book in your municipality, state, and the federal code; but, you remaining a citizen and living there means the state has tacit consent from you.

So, no, it's not an individual doing things to you, it's the state, which represents the polity, doing things to you. You also have a voice in the polity too; but, an agreement of living in this country (or any country) is to consent to the powers of the state and if the polity deems that it has a certain power (by voting a new bill into law), the state has that power. That's it.

I think you forget that rich people can just leave... With their money.
Open borders work both ways.

It doesn't even mean their businesses would disappear, replaced by somebody that isn't that rich.

USA has many Multinational companies. If they moved to... let's say Honduras. Do you think a single McDonalds would close in the USA or Europe? Nope. They would just pay their taxes over there.

The ONLY solution to that is nationalizing every company. And that screws up said country.
Smart people would flee the country. Other countries would NOT invest in yours, becasue they know you can just take it away. Incentives are gone.

Maybe, one day it would be possible. Once society could function if NOBODY worked. Everything taken care of by robots, even their maintenance.

Until then, you need at least some form of Capitalism. Without scaring said capital away.

---------------------
On topic:
Trump has many flaws. But I still think he is actually doing well.
He has a better handle on Corona than most European countries (what? nu-uh, CNN said that ain't true!)

He at least closed the airports relatively early. He is at least considering options. He is calling out the WHO, because guess what? They LIED.
Yes, the USA government also indulged into a lie (about the facemasks). But guess what? What's good for the country isn't persé what's good for the individual.

I like that he is considering opening the economy. It could be a bad idea. But a leader has to weight the costs against the benefits.
People that only consider the downsides don't have a fully formed opinion.
Same goes the other way around.

I don't know how bad the Corona thing really is. I just know I'm not willing to take risks.

Also, I'm sick of the media lying about Trump. I know he ain't a saint. But they make stuff up EVERY. SINGLE. DAY.
I've come to the point where I honestly don't believe them when they something negative about him.
Every time I did some research, the media was lying.

I knew media was terrible. I knew everyone just wanted clicks. I knew it's all about money.
But the scope? Holy shit.

(PS: I know it's not just the mainstream media. Even normal people do it, just for attention. It's sickening.
People in bubbles everywhere. At least it might help me make some money... Doesn't mean I like it.)

I don't act like the state doesnt get involved in peoples lives.

The state is representative of the people elected into it, and its overall culture. If enough people live within and vote a certain way, change happens. If enough people live in it and vote, the state can abolish its state taxes on revenue or social security or change its policies.

So it's not really the state, its the people within the state and their attitudes and beliefs that are in control at the time.

But we also live in a capitalist democracy.

I do not live in a fascist, communist, or socialist state/government.

I have every right to bear arms against such change and speak out and vote.

Forcing me to pay for things because I can or could, against my will without a vote goes against the very nature of how our country is setup.

You might not have ever consented to every law in the book in your municipality, state, and the federal code; but, you remaining a citizen and living there means the state has tacit consent from you.

It has as much consent as the voters allow it.

I could say the same for you. If you want free healthcare and retirement and unemployment, why not move to Canada? Why change what we already have here in our capitalist setup? Why don't you move and become a citizen of Canada?

A lot of citizens here in the US want to keep things the way they are already, maybe even go back a few steps and retain our capitalist way of life. Why should we change for you? Why should we allow people to change us to socialist/communist/fascist?

Also, I noticed you skipped over my question for you...
I could say you could afford to give up one of those apartment rentals to students for free since you have more than 1. How would you feel that just because you could, someone forced you into it?

You could do a lot of good housing the homeless and less fortunate. Out of your rentals, what if the state forced you to give them all up, with no money exchange, just because you are "rich" and could?

How would that change your view about real estate as a business or income stream? Would it be fair? I mean, you can or could do it. You have them and could let them in.

I know this.

I didn't answer your question because the premise was false. Your question is about eminent domain. That already exists in the US. If eminent domain happens, it doesn't mean that fascism, socialism or communism happened. Also, you seem to believe that fascism, socialism, and communism are the exact same thing. I doubt that you know the differences between them.

The difference is in the definition of private property and who has political power. In fascism, only the dictator has power. The people have no political power. In communism, there is no private property and everything is state owned. At the same time, everything is owned by the people. It can be fascist too, as most are.

In socialism, there is still private property, the only thing is that incomes are redistributed so that the top earners are also covering for the bottom earners. The assumption here is that people have no say in whether or not they're born and who they parents are and their family's wealth is a matter of moral luck; therefore, the Government should redistribute the wealth to those who are unlucky, so that they can have access to a good life, such as healthcare, higher education, having children, retirement, and so forth.

There exists the World Happiness Index ( https://worldhappiness.report/ ). The US is 19, which is not exceptional. You might not believe this, but, for the well being of a society, there's more than just financial success. Yes, that's a factor; but, social trust is another factor. Having a president who tells people that injecting disinfectant does not contribute to that. Having high economic inequality, where the ultra rich are magnitudes richer than the poor, doesn't contribute to that.

If you're wondering, yes, I lived overseas before and plan on moving overseas once I'm done with my Masters. Not only will I, as someone who is ultra-priviledge, who is able to pick and choose the political environment I live in, get to choose my political society, I'll still get to vote in the US  and I also save money on taxes, as the first $120,000 is exempt from federal tax (https://www.irs.gov/individuals/international-taxpayers/foreign-earned-income-exclusion).

So, yes, make the US a piece of shit country where people have to fend for themselves, like any other 3rd world country and avoid the international movement that's been happening in other countries for years now. Like it or not, socialism is coming to the US. The rhetoric is just too good.

Your only defense is cherry picking and deflecting or ignoring.

My question is not about eminent domain, it was about forcing you to do something against your will just because you can or could, like in your example of mine "because I was rich" and could afford to earlier. It's OK to take away my money as the state feels fit, but when I pin it back on you, you act as if you have no clue what I am talking about and say "eminent domain".

But you know this already, you just can't answer it. When backed to the wall, you can't support your ideologies correctly or accurately. You assume a ton and then get picked to death when I point them all out like on the Corona thread.

You have no defense, so you don't answer and try to play "eminent domain". But won't answer if being forced to do something just because you can or could would be fair when it is pinned back to you.

Past that, you end up resulting to insults and passive aggressiveness, but at the same time blame people like Trump of the same hypocrisy. How rich of you...

Also, quite childish of you to say I wouldn't know the difference even though Im the one that brought it up about socialism/communism/fascist. I doubt you really understand how that impacts society. I bet you studied the image I posted 10 times before you wrote your comment and Googled what each was quickly just to comment.

I think you fail to realize I have a couple decades of life experience on you and you're about 20 years behind on anything I would know or do, including the FEIE or even things you haven't mentioned. You think I don't know about FEIE? How about PR Act 20 and 22? Do you even have an IBC or foreign offshore LLC yet? How about a Trust to protect your assets?

Don't answer, I can see you will just deflect or spin or ignore.

Ohh, so scared of your ultra-priviledge ( your words ) and some old tax codes you just figured out so you can live cheaply in some 3rd world country because paying tax here makes you too broke to live here in the US. Getting free healthcare, free retirement, tax savings on FEIE, and free unemployment.. gee you must be damn near broke here to have to make that move away from the US. Can't take the heat when it comes to paying taxes, so you jumping out the kitchen! That's winning alright ( sarcasm ).

I watched a ton of affiliates do the same back in 2008-2011. Made some pocket change and moved to Thailand so they could live like kings, all because their money barely lasted here and they were just a 1-trick pony and had no other way to really level up in life.

And all to find out, you moving out of the country regardless of what you think about the USA and how much change you want! Reminds me of all those celebs that also said they would move out of the US when Trump was elected, but never did.

You all just suck off the teet, but can't be bothered to live here, and then expect all of us that do to bow down to your socialist/communist/fascist ways and lifestyle.

Tall hat, no cattle. Finally got you figured out.

Thanks for the practice.

Also, you seem to believe that fascism, socialism, and communism are the exact same thing. I doubt that you know the differences between them.
I seem to recognise a pattern. You seem to infer what other people think and know (in this case Eliquid).
This is a very bad way to make a point. It also makes you come across as arrogant.

Having a president who tells people that injecting disinfectant does not contribute to that.
This did not happen. There is (a lot) more context.
But let's assume he did. A president saying stupid stuff does not decrease social trust. I have lived through many leaders that said insanely stupid things. People complain about the government, laugh about their incompetence, and go about their day.

So, yes, make the US a piece of shit country where people have to fend for themselves, like any other 3rd world country and avoid the international movement that's been happening in other countries for years now. Like it or not, socialism is coming to the US. The rhetoric is just too good.
I fail to see why so many people from third world countries would risk their lives to go live.... In a 3rd world country?
Btw, being number 19 in the world is well within the top 10%. The horror.

It's the amount of redistribution that easily becomes the problem.
Look at yourself. You are running away already. WITH your money. And you want it to be redistributed more? What do you think the even richer people will do?
You are even gloating about it.

You may be right that socialism is "inevitable" in the US. I don't think it is. But if it happens, I expect it to crash and burn. And return to capitalism.

EDIT:
This is to everyone, I'm not targeting anyone: The biggest problem in political discussions is that they escalate very quickly, and devolve into personal insults.
This is understandable, because ideologies feel like a part of us. They are just what you think RIGHT NOW.
If somebody critiques your ideology it has nothing to do with you.
Try to refrain from personal insults and mind-reading. Sometimes I fail at that. But when I (and others) succeed, the conversations can actually be fun and insightful.

How much money do you have?

Just gonna paste this here in case he deletes it later.

You're not that rich. You're too shy to say it and you're not rich enough, where newspapers would publish your wealth. You'd be helped out by welfare programs.

You don't have a degree (or do you?), you come from the country (?) and you have to support a family. If your business goes downhill, you're SOL. Having a welfare state would remove that burden.

Me advocating for welfare policies is actually helping people like you, even though you're not related to me, have different beliefs than me, and have a different lifestyle than me. Again, the policies are blind of color, race, gender, sexual orientation, disability, and so forth. It's the knowing, that, at any time, unfortunate circumstances can happen to us all; therefore, as a society, we should have social safety nets.

"I want you to give the state more money so the state can better decide with your money what is good for you".
That's how that comes across.

I'm doing it FOR YOU! YOU are not rich enough to decide what is good for you.

Wow. What are you doing mate?
