Roll Call: Who's Grinding Late on a Saturday Night? (Aussies, You Can't Fool Me)

Long nights of coding ahead...

Only late night grinding on Saturday?

These emails..

The good ones don't just write themselves.

What's the pain point trying to I'm solve for them?

What's the person thinking on the other end of the screen?

How can I make them regret not taking action now?

Loss aversion, how can I make them feel it?

Why is Google tripping up over this word and putting my test emails in Promotions tab?

Did something I write, not come over as clear enough?

Is this a damn wall of text, or some kind of visual break up so they stay interested in reading it?

Sometimes grinding them out at night is the best way to get the shit done just right, like golden right...

You gotta write it 24k magic, man...

Grinding away...

Still on emails. This time its not promotional emails, but onboarding.

Gotta check this stuff all the time.

It seems every couple months, Gmail changes what it wants to inbox and what it wants to put in Promotions tab.

Onboarding emails that were fine months ago, are now not inboxing.

Sometimes its as simple as changing the sender email.

Sometimes its bolded text that needs to be unbolded.

Sometimes its the HTML formatting.

Sometimes it's 1 word thats all caps like HINT in your email, that needs to be rewrote to lowercase.

It's not hard to do, but sometimes its so bothersome to stay on top of.

But you gotta do it.

.

Always grinding late... monday, tuesdays, wednesday, thursdays, fridays, satu...

Here's the real question... Who's grinding on one of the few federal holidays? I am. It's raining, nobody is cooking out, everyone's taking it easy at home, so I'm playing a little catch up and trying to get/keep my competitive edge ( :( )

Been grinding all weekend. I took today off from regular client work. Since my idea of a good time is writing code, here I am working on a feature update to a current site that includes replacing jQuery with Vue.js, which has already made my life a bit easier. Aside from that, been putting a lot of thought into either taking on a couple new clients or getting into some type of JV and weighing pros/cons of each. I'd say it's been a pretty productive 3 days.

I was going to bring this up myself, right here in this thread. You beat me to it though.

Count me in, did 6 podcasts today trying to build up a buffer.

4:24 am in my "early" Friday counts?

I woke up sleepless and decided I'd be better off publishing new YT videos than rolling around and wasting time in bed without doing nothing.

I was already working in my mind, brainstorming ideas. Might as well start executing them instead of forgetting about them.

I don't care what happens. This friday/saturday i'm saving for the girlfriend. Too many neglected weekends. But the one after, likely go back to working all night.

Been a while since I pulled serious coding all-nighters:

Almost at the Quantum finish line... Gotta get it done.

No coding fo' me, just code lines and lines rinse & cleaning...
so website performs at acceptable warp speed.

I wrapped up my work last night on this new website design job I took on. I'm really impressed with the way it's going so far. I usually do minimal design and people often ask me for it, but this job begs for something cooler and more flashy. It's been a blast so far.

Except I finished the hardest part and as I was basking in it's glory I realized I made an amateur mistake of using position: absolute; instead of float: left; for example.

The implication is that positioning elements yanks them out of the flow of the content, so when I moved on to the next part, it all moved to the top of the screen underneath the nice part I just made, which had a higher z-index.

Fortunately it already had a wrapper, I added another internal wrapper around two elements so they could keep their absolute positioning and z-indexing, and then floated the main part. Viola, fixed. I just have to do some touch up to that later today and I can move on.

Saturday night work sessions always carry the risk of going braindead and doing something stupid. Fortunately it's always an easy fix and leads to more creative and better solutions that you wouldn't have thought of in the first place.

Ok, it's almost half past midnight, i've had dinner with the misses (drank a small beer and i shouldn't have) now i'm in front of the laptops working... doing my social media, writing emails and soon i'll be planning my ebook... while she's in bed getting neglected...............

6am here, Bed at midnight, woke at 5. Can’t sleep with my mind awash with check lists!

Just starting a new project. Soooo much to do. (I’ll admit, I do kinda like the early grunt work )

Taking a quick break. I love waking up early too, to get stuff done. Learning about Pinterest and pinterest marketing. I'm already getting nice followers(12). Was watching some "seemingly' good vid on pinterest strategy of 2018. Guy said it'll take 2-6 weeks to gain 50-100 followers (so I can look legit enough to join group boards too). Bologna, I got them in one day.

5am here in Communist Italy, been up since 3am, happy 4th of July and BBQing to all!
