How To Double Affiliate Revenue In Only 4 Months

A year ago or so, a member of the NoHatDigital team bought a site by Perrin from the AuthorityHacker crew called HerePup.com. Neither have hidden the site or the fact that they own it, so feel free to check it out. But the real story is how within 4 months the new owners doubled the revenue, effectively cutting in half the time it'll take for them to break even. It's all profit from there out, and they'll likely double again at the rate they're working.

The secret? Nothing more than what you see builders doing here every day. They scaled effectively and made some wise decisions about affiliate programs. Most importantly, they tested even when they feared the opposite effects. There's a lot to be taken from the details, and they share it all here on Tung Tran's Cloud Living blog.

Triple Threat!

Hacking Quora for SEO Growth
SERPWoo's @eliquid shows us how he used Quora only to move a page ranked #20 all the way up to #3. This further amplifies the questions about whether or not no-follow links help SEO, whether links with traffic or on trafficked pages matter more, and how much relevancy really counts.

Common Webpage Design Mistakes
Ryuzaki sent this one in, which illustrates plainly with a lot of images some of the most common problems you see from webmasters trying to edit their themes or build a site from the ground up. It breaks it down to the nitty gritty, all the way to font styles, padding, caption positioning, etc.

How to Perform an SEO Audit
Another from the SERPWoo team providing everything you need to perform an SEO audit, from information to a list of tools you can use. This post is basically a business in a box, however you can also use it to analyze your own site and break through to the next level.

As always, please send in anything good you find across the net that contains actionable information (not news) to help us better build our businesses. We try to share newer posts that are of a certain quality level. For some reason that's getting harder and harder to find these days. Any help you can offer would be great.

Predicting Latent Keyword Intent
Tom Rayner released a beast of a post regarding how he not once, twice, or even only thrice managed to predict Google's incoming intent for a keyword to get ahead of the curve, establish the highest CTR, and take the #1 spot for short tail keywords, netting his clients huge boosts in revenue (€850,000+ on one client).

It also exposes that "seasonality" isn't the only time Google changes the intent of SERPs. It's happening all the time based on user sentiment across the web. He explains how to measure it and strike first. Well worth a read.

Link Inversion & Content Hijacking
Dejan Marketing breaks down the technology behind the Google Caffeine update, called Percolator, and shows Google truly does put the user first, even if that means screwing over the publisher in a big way. Not only can you syndicate someone else's content while linking back to them as the source, but you can actually be given credit for all of the links going to the original page and all other copies. To really understand what's happening here, you need to follow all of the internal links on the page.

How Google Assesses Trust
Marie Haynes has posted her opinions on the recent slurry of Google updates, including the most recent September 27th one. Accurate or not, it provides a lot of examples of problems on websites and how to resolve them according to the Rating Guidelines that inform the algorithm, and what the humans who look at the sites are looking for. Well worth a read.

I'm changing up the format of the Newsstand. Instead of bumping this thread and getting little engagement, I'm going to start new threads for each entry. I'll still update them here and bump this thread once in a blue moon with all the newest ones added in so people can play catch up. But this thread itself is going to be a lot less visible for now.
