October 6, 2016 - Ride the Viral Wake

It's been hard to find worthy and actionable posts in the IM community blogosphere lately, and I was even more surprised that this came out of the ahrefs crew. First they take a look at a successful, large success viral campaign. Then they show you how you can steal the concept and narrow it down to specific communities to basically guarantee killer links, shares, and traffic.

If you guys find great posts out there, IM or otherwise, send me a PM. We're open to actionable tips for anything related to business!

General manager of Problogger, Laney Galligan, delivers a high impact tip for you to use when you're pitching a pre-written post to a big site. Very few people include the key data from their press kit, including their typical following size across all platforms, which they should include. But Laney has a better idea for a much more persuasive pitch...

How To Double Affiliate Revenue In Only 4 Months

A year ago or so, a member of the NoHatDigital team bought a site by Perrin from the AuthorityHacker crew called HerePup.com. Neither have hidden the site or the fact that they own it, so feel free to check it out. But the real story is how within 4 months the new owners doubled the revenue, effectively cutting in half the time it'll take for them to break even. It's all profit from there out, and they'll likely double again at the rate they're working.

The secret? Nothing more than what you see builders doing here every day. They scaled effectively and made some wise decisions about affiliate programs. Most importantly, they tested even when they feared the opposite effects. There's a lot to be taken from the details, and they share it all here on Tung Tran's Cloud Living blog.

Faster Broken Link Building

@Prentzz sent in a nice resource by Ahrefs about a faster way of performing a broken link building campaign. By targeting pages with massive amounts of links pointing in, you reduce the amount of content creation you're doing and increasing the outreach. There are several alternate methods shown, but the fastest is by using Ahrefs' link index.

The Link Bar, an Ecommerce Mobile Homepage Navigation Alternative

Conversion Rate Optimization company Growth Rock released a study that's worth reading for all involved in the eCommerce industry and anyone with a fewer amount of categories on their websites. The premise is an A/B test comparison between the classic Hamburger Menu for mobile designs and the Link Bar, which can be static or allow you to drag to scroll horizontally.

The results were clear and they show examples of some big companies already adopting the Link Bar. They also break down the details of exactly what it effects to get the measured 5% boost in conversion rate.

Also:
If you see something worth sharing that you don't feel the need to create a thread about or want to draw more attention to it, send it in. We try to focus on useful, actionable information in the Newsstand and not really news. It's a misnomer for sure, but we're all about making money.

Triple Threat!

Hacking Quora for SEO Growth
SERPWoo's @eliquid shows us how he used Quora only to move a page ranked #20 all the way up to #3. This further amplifies the questions about whether or not no-follow links help SEO, whether links with traffic or on trafficked pages matter more, and how much relevancy really counts.

Common Webpage Design Mistakes
Ryuzaki sent this one in, which illustrates plainly with a lot of images some of the most common problems you see from webmasters trying to edit their themes or build a site from the ground up. It breaks it down to the nitty gritty, all the way to font styles, padding, caption positioning, etc.

How to Perform an SEO Audit
Another from the SERPWoo team providing everything you need to perform an SEO audit, from information to a list of tools you can use. This post is basically a business in a box, however you can also use it to analyze your own site and break through to the next level.

As always, please send in anything good you find across the net that contains actionable information (not news) to help us better build our businesses. We try to share newer posts that are of a certain quality level. For some reason that's getting harder and harder to find these days. Any help you can offer would be great.
