A key element to building anything is to start with a solid foundation. BuSo Lightning was created from the ground-up to be the fastest WordPress theme right out of the box, without any extra frills.

Before anything adding, we would ask "Is this necessary?"

Anytime the answer was no, then it simply wasn't included. We built this theme with the one guiding principle: It doesn't just need to be as fast as possible, it needs to be the fastest WordPress theme you've ever used. 

That doesn't mean you can't bend and warp BuSo Lightning, the code is all very simple to follow so even a basic knowledge of the WordPress loop should make most modifications as easy as possible.
