What's the Deal with Mandrill?

Anybody have any resources that summarize the pros and cons of Mandrill?

Is it worth setting up for a new business, or is it a system that's more useful for an established business?

I'm struggling with figuring out what the exact benefits are for a new business. I can see why it's extremely useful for an established e-commerce business.

If you're sending out a lot of emails the IP address you're using can be banned quickly (or at least slow down the sending). It would be better to just sign up early so you don't have to worry about apart of your customer base not receiving their email updates quickly or at all.
