Whats the best dungeons and dragons edition?

I played 4th edition for like 2 weeks when I was in the military. Dragonborn paladin? We didn't know what we were doing.

From what I remember though, everyone online was gassing up 3.5 like it was the only version worth playing.

I don't have the imagination for D&D, but whatever Pathfinder uses.
