Knowledge add: The biggest lesson for me over time has been:

Benefits

It's the one thing consumers want more than anything else.

But those benefits better be damn addictive if you want to acquire loyalty/repeat customers.

Even the speed/time of perceived benefits can be a major factor.

Consumers can be so quick to give up if the benefits aren't there right away. (Think instant gratification)

However, they can also be manipulated and led to believe they achieved benefits which really never existed in the first place.
