Introductions Thread

Hello Hurluna,
Welcome to BuSo. I am new here as well, you seem to really have a lot going on. I think you need more resilience in dealing with your ideas, and you seem to have a lot of those up your sleeve. Good luck and nice to meet you.

Hey all,

Thought I would introduce myself (finally), I was introduced to this forum by @CCarter posting in one of the skype SEO groups I manage.
I currently a student in England. I've got exams next month but after that I plan on using the summer wisely, currently my 2 main goals are:
1) Learn how to create a fully responsive website with CSS & HTML
2) Build some capital to invest into a few projects

I'm sure more will be added as I get closer to the time but I want to be in a position I can invest at least £3k into a project by the end of summer. Then use that £3k to make a site generating at least £500 a month. If I could do that I would use the £3k for content and links originally and any money generated will be used for more content and links until it's at a stage where I'm ready to flip.

My main 'why' is I want to reach financial independence as soon as possible, I've seen the success of others killing it in the laboratory and I want to do the same, so I guess my main aim is to eventually do a multiple 6 figure flip on a site, while doing a follow along in the laboratory.

So yeah, I'm here to meet some like minded people and push forward.

Hi everyone...

I'm a programmer, currently working at a startup I co-founded, and I'm building a business to make some side income.

Me and a couple friends have decided to start a web scraping and automation business. We've been looking at affiliate marketing and realising that they could really be helped with automation through tech. I joined this forum to learn more about affiliate marketing and marketing in general.

Looking forward to reading what's on the site. If any affiliate marketers have any particular pain points, let me know

There's a lot of useful information that I'd suggest you learn here. The Digita Strategy Crash Course section will make you a lot better in IM, and it's a blessing.

If you need any help, there's a lot of people that can fix your SEO god issues.

Hi

I'm Alex and recently came across this forum. Looking forward to checking out what it's all about, and getting to know a few of you.

I'm a website designer who's always interested in new concepts and some SEO!

Nice to meet you, just signed up myself. I'm currently enrolled in college for software development, decided to switch careers at 35!

Hi There,

Thought I'd finally post a quick intro to the forum, have been reading the threads on here for a little while now - there's some really good and inspiring stuff posted here.

I have been working in the industry for 10 years now, creating sites - building up the income and then selling the sites on. My last site sold for $xxx, xxx which was good but now I'm looking to sell a million dollar site!

I have a few sites on the go which are well established and also a couple of starter sites so I'd like to post a case study of one of them in the Lab forum.

Cheers for reading - see you around the forum!

Nice!

Do you have a few verticals or niches you cycle through (assuming you have to sign non-competes when you sell)?

I sold a few off (one main earner and two related sites) off for around $30k a couple years ago and then buckled down on a giant "keeper" site for cash flow, and another one to sell, probably for around $15k once it happens. There's not much volume, but that's a nice chunk of cash to toss into the next one. I definitely want to get a handful of sites built and aging for this purpose.

Glad to have you onboard. Can't wait to watch you go through the process in the Lab thread!

I haven't actually had to sign a non-compete so far, I do run a few sites which are somewhat related so it wouldn't be possible for me to even do that.

I saw you mention in your thread, that everything you do when starting a site is with a possible sale further down the line. I also do that - perfect book keeping, different email for each site, different affiliate accounts for each site ( so I can just hand them over to the new owner ) and so on.

Thanks for the welcome!

Hello all! I am a newb, currently building my first e-com site. I'm hoping to network and mastermind with others here. Much thanks to the mods, this site has some great resources!

Hi all! I'm very happy to have stumbled across your corner of the web, as I've been missing a good HQ for website building.

Ten years ago, I was just a young guy dabbling here and there online for fun. There were places like bluehatseo and wickedfire to learn some new ideas and meet people. I didn't think about the internet while pursuing other things for a bit, but now I've returned and found a completely different landscape. These days, all the old communities are gone or dying/spammed. There are only a few smaller pockets of good places, or forums that don't really focus on site building, so I've felt kind of dispossessed. Also, I am now an older guy getting ready to quit my career and try to make it full-time online, so I'm looking to commit seriously, not just as a hobby.

Reading through some of the resources here has been amazingly helpful. While some of the content has been mentioned before, it's more about putting together a framework, and knowing the plan of action. Browsing through the digital crash course and traffic leak resources was enormously helpful for placing all the tactics we know into context, as part of a larger strategy.

I'm still a beginner in my building journey. I have a few minor sites, but my focus these days is on a single larger site, I'll call Project X. It's only a couple of months old, but this is the first site where I've gone all in.

In terms of skills, I am more a jack-of-all-trades, can handle a little bit of everything including technical stuff, but not really deep into any one thing. I feel like I have most of product creation in terms of content and technical issues under control. My biggest weakness is traffic and link-building, as I've only tried to do this seriously on Project X in the last several months. Wow, it's not easy! I'm still figuring things out as I go, with some successes and some failures.

My goal is try to get the semblance of a livable income by the end of 2017, ~2K a month, and more importantly, a solid foundation to scale up over the next year. I realize 2K/month is doable but challenging for the less experienced. Monetization is currently Amazon + other physical product affiliates, as that is what I know best.

Well, I will poke around here, read a lot, and see if I have anything to offer.

Good day!

Welcome to the forum! Do you use flippa to sell your sites?

Greetings friends

So glad i found this awesome resource.

New to AM.Devouring YoutubeFB and Forums.Been reading the Digital strategy since 4.30am.

As much as all this info is very helpfull it feels like an action fake to just sit tight and learn all day without execution to some degree. So i stopped to continue building my site for a lot less of my day off work than i had hoped to spend on it.

You guys have just put so much detail into your writing here that i am inspired to add a newbie journal progress thread(for added positive peer pressure lol),Thank you good people for being as open as you can be about your stories.

Be happy to contribute what little i know and learn while executing my new knowledge.Have 2 niches id like to begin doing keyword research on by tomorrow.

Welcome! What platform are you using for e-commerce?
I like Prestashop, it is free, although usually you will need to spend on a couple plugins. WooCommerce is nice too, if you are going Wordpress route.

Welcome. I think many on here are old bluehatseo fans. Most the best names from more recent times at WF seem to be around too.

Yes what is your sales method? being able to value and sell your site accordingly

You seem to have the formula. If you can make your way through the work ethic required to accuire a degree then its just a matter of the right attitude to get to where you want to be.Id be happy to see your progress as well.speak as a newb to this myself

Nice following you on instagram. Good luck! Get to 1k per day, then flip it for 20x monthly revenue. Cash in 600k or so.

Yeah, I've used flippa so far.
I have a broker lined up for the next one though - that's the way to go for larger sites.

It might serve to mentally change hats when you move from the "I'm working on my site and content" stage of the day or week, to the "Now I need links and traffic."

Too many people think of link-building as another aspect of technical site building, but it's really more about creative marketing. Sure, you can run around the net filling out forum profiles or building web 2.0's, but those aren't going to give you the same return on your time as marketing your content, landing it in front of a lot of the right eyeballs, and letting them spread it to forums, blogs, and even writing editorials themselves.

Link "building" should really be thought of more as link "acquisition" if you want to score the powerful ones that bring traffic themselves as well as from Google.

For the love of all that is good and holy, please use a space after punctuation (especially in the content on your own sites). I'm glad you've found inspiration here. You're right, guidance is only that and never a replacement for doing the actual work.

Hi all, I just signed up! BuSo seems like a deep pool of knowledge, just perfect for me to drown in.

I'm currently learning most everything WordPress on the backend, and to do that I dove into an ocean of Lynda dot com courses ... my head is still swimming.

Found this site via the googe, I searched bloated WP themes.

WoW. Just checking my other posts to see if i have had this bad habit all this time. Makes it seem like my writing is more of an eye sore. Thanks @Ryuzaki

Gauteng here. Greetings friends

The "googe" sounds like an ending to a porn skit.

Work as you learn, and you'll build your own life vest instead of drowning.

I've never watched a porn skit, but sometimes I get the feeling I'm on camera.

So far I've enjoyed reading a good 1/2 dozen lengthy threads! They all seem to have a similar refreshing stream running through them which reminds me an awful lot of a book I read long time back called; The Art of War by Sun Tzu.

I just discovered BuSo's Digital Strategy Crash Course ... O to the M to the G this is going to be an amazing experience!!!

Yeah I recognize some of the names from old WF threads. So this is where they went!

Thanks for the tips, Ryuzaki.

I agree with you on switching thinking mode. I actually have done very little web 2.0 or forum profile style link building, and have been focusing on getting links from hobbyist bloggers (think friendly mommy blogger types). After reading through here, I was a bit worried that I should do more of the crappy link padding/pillowing to average out my velocity and anchors.

Plugging into communities is a big thing I haven't done much yet, either.

I'm slowly figuring things out... limited by how much I can handle at once.
