Introductions Thread

Hi,
I first found about IM about 3 years ago.My first affiliate site was in Weight Loss Niche.I was new to this whole IM world.I was living in a dream at that time.I thought the moment I created a site customers will come in hundreds. But I soon found out the truth the hard way.

After that I tried CPA, Fiverr, Clickbank, and many other things.Even I tried to write a short book.I failed in all of them.Did not earn even a single dollar. But I did not give up.

I learned from my mistakes.I got experience from my failures. The problem with me I absorb a lot of information but do very little. But I plan to change that.I want to be a man of action.
The people in this forum has inspired me to change myself. To take charge of life.To create my own Destiny.

But I did not give up.
I learned from my mistakes.

I'd say that's a recipe for success. Just try to fail and learn faster and faster so you can accumulate more and more of that experience and knowledge!

Glad to have you around.

New to IM but not to business. I transplanted to Quebec years ago and my goal is to live the digital nomad lifestyle with semi-passive income. When my site is earning enough to support me on its own I plan on starting a new one to use for savings and once I have a cushion then I'm hopping on a flight to who-cares-where.

I've been lurking around this place for some time now, and I must say that I love it!

I see lots of familiar faces from other forums. Lots of people working towards their goals, productive discussions, looks like a great community.

Hope it does't turn into wafo/dp. Little bit of "tough love" Wickedfire style should help with that.

So who am I and what am I doing?

I was basically lurking for years, reading shit and procrastinating. Last year I started taking some action. I build a website with my girlfriend and started my journal over at Wickedfire. I will be continuing that journal here, so you will hear more about that in other thread.

Our site is doing OK but it could do much better. So I decided to go full time with this. I already dropped out of a college some time ago and this will be my main source of income. I am 27 years old, did not accomplish shit in my life yet, so it is time to start working properly!

Also, shout-out to Tavin and CCarter for inspiration and motivation.

Yeah, that's about it.

Hey Varys, Welcome to BuSo! I've been following your case study on Wickedfire too. Glad to see you're continuing it here.

Nice traffic gains on the case study. It'll be interesting to see how its going for you now. I'm sure there are better monetization options out there for you besides adsense especially with that level of traffic!

Hey guys,

decided to sign-up here at BUSO since information here are very useful. Stumbled upon this site while searching for CCarter's credentials.

I've been doing IM since 2007, had ups and downs. Earned 100k/month previously with some niche, but now, struggling back because of g updates. Kind of frustrating when you rely on google for traffic. My sites are really for churn or burn, and I've been doing 3-tiers with GSA.

Although I have 2 long-term markets now that I built - for my wife's business.

What I've been doing since January is to create quality sites, no backlinking. Still struggling, not much traffic.

Anyways, I've read a bunch of threads, and got really good info - traffic leaking, the case studies, etc. Really gold!

A veteran! Glad to have you here. Yeah, the game has really changed. Not easy to sustain high ranks for long times on spam anymore. Most of us here seem to be following the path that you're on now. Slower build up, higher sustainability, big liquidations later. Best of luck, hope to see you around the forum.

Not easy to sustain high ranks for long times on spam anymore.

Yeah, it gets hard to sustain rank with spammy links.

Another struggle for me now - It's not that I'm lazy with IM, but my wife and I have committed our time for a spiritual group here in my area, + lots of other things to do. We are doing our best to serve in our community, and we have just booked a continuous event(every Saturday commitment, whole day, + preparations before Sat).

My weekend was like:
Friday - accompany my wife whole afternoon searching for giveaways, whole night, helped with some docs/printing for Saturday event
Saturday - cleaned venue, more preparations, 2nd Sat of 13 Saturdays being busy
Sunday - Should have been my rest day, but had another thanksgiving fellowship for some successful event
Monday - Woke up late since was tired from weekend events, then will go to another birthday celebration later.

So basically, I'm having problems juggling my time. Should have a balanced lifestyle - IM as top priority since it what pays the bills, health(exercise), community commitments, sleep and power naps, household chores etc. Had a VA previously, but had to let her go.

@dmden welcome and about links stop spamming the oldscholl GSA way and start hitting social media hard, use buzzbundle create your profiles and type in your keyword and it starts pulling link and traffik oppertuneties like a naked whore on the freeway.

Yeah, monetization is one of the issues that I have. Very low earnings with adsense right now. You'll see more details in my journal soon.

Just read up your wf thread. Awesome work, since you decided to go full time, have you developed a great monetization plan?

It's been about a year now, so what's traffic like currently?

Also is this your only site, have you started on other as, or do you plan too?

I would guess since it's doing so good , your probably not going to flip it.

Great stuff, I'm staying tuned!

Hey, thanks! You can check my new thread here, there are most of the answers to your questions: https://www.buildersociety.com/threads/becoming-a-big-brand-journal.675/

I basically don't know how to monetize yet, but have some plans. You can check traffic stats there.

Sup y'all
Another newb for ya here. I've been intrigued by and stalked IM related forums for a couple years off and on and I have finally found myself in a position to start getting a ball or two rolling towards creating my own web properties. My long term goal is to become one of the 800 pound marketing gorillas, making money hand over fist with whatever I touch of course, but moreso I'd like to put myself in a position to contribute meaningfully to communities and projects that I care about. I've had an online venture or two that fizzled out, and always of course it was the direct result of a lack of knowledge of how to market, but now I am starting to grasp a wider picture of what really is at play.

In case the admins are curious, I found the forum by googling "CCarter" because I was specifically looking for the "Traffic Leaks" write up from WF because I wanted to read it again and again. Seriously, who doesn't? CCarter, you've got an incredible writing style, and everything you write has killer value. And you know what? I want to write like that too.

There are several things that have held me back to date. Mainly, the signal to noise ratio for trying to learn anything in IM is beyond ridiculous (duh). But why shouldn't it be? I'm sure one of you here probably collected some money from a few different hosting accounts I've signed up for, among other things. But now that I have had a few stumbles I'm ready to get serious, and I am incredibly glad to have found a place with like-minded folk.

I have a couple points/questions for discussion if anyone is interested:

-Lately I've been following /u/humblesalesman's case study on /r/entrepreneur on growing an Amazon monetized site for 12 months with the goal of breaking $4000/month. I think it's great and it has certainly helped me put some puzzle pieces in place as far as big picture IM as opposed to what comes to mind when you think of online marketing. I would be curious if anyone has any less than positive reviews about it.

-I found this post: http://www.reddit.com/r/tax/comments/2qtzgx/can_i_use_schedule_cez_form_as_an_individual/ by a redditor asking for tax advice on how to deal with all the money he is making from running:

"a large amount of social accounts that have hundreds of thousands of REAL followers that I use to make decent money by affiliate marketing. I started a little under 2 months ago and have pulled in 250k+ uniques in that time. Most of these accounts promote attractive women and the "niche" where I get my money from is roughly 85% dating sites / 15% app downloads etc etc. In saying that, it is safe to assume that well over 90% of my fans are males...probably within the 16-35 age bracket."

Other posts indicate that it is most likely instagram that he uses, and with my limited knowledge I am guessing he pays for shoutouts from influencers, uses some kind of follow liker bot, and either steals or licenses content of something like "hot tattooed girls" and links back to a magazine style site with copious ad placements for dating and porn. Maybe even throwing in free ipad giveaways or whatever works these days. The uptake in income in only a few months really appeals to me as a poor newb just starting out. What are everyone's opinions on what he may or may not be doing? And how does this forum feel about that kind of stuff?

Lastly, how do you get in on those skype groups everyone is always talking about. I don't know anyone in real life or online who does this, and anyone I try to explain it to is like, "lol wut" (except one guy after several minutes of explaining, but he already makes a shitload of money from his job) It would be great to network and any help getting started is always appreciated.

If you made it this far thanks for reading. And happy St. Paddy's to ya!

Hey welcome to the forum.

We don't have, and won't ever have, any official BuSo skype groups because ... well... that's what the forum is for, but maybe somebody here will be able to tap you on the shoulder and invite you to one of the million IM skype groups out there.

CCarter, you've got an incredible writing style, and everything you write has killer value.

Skype groups are a waste of time - they're great to ask quick questions and get a response, but overall spending hours at a time in them will not get you any new internet secrets, unless you are specifically in the internet secrets one.

Hey! I'm pretty new to marketing, tried and failed a few times, learnt a lot already. I found this site by searching for CCarter's bootcamp (like a lot of people I think).

Over the next few months I'm going to be applying the knowledge I've learnt and keeping track of it so I can post it here. I've always been interested in fitness and found a log helped keep me on track by making me accountable to others.

The amount I've learnt from this forum in the last week just reading is actually ridiculous, so thank you!

Hey what's up. I see some names here that I recognize. I was encouraged to post about about a site I sold recently so I'm going to do that shortly after I can out of this newbie area sooo....

Toss me some likes bros, set me freeeeee

Hello everyone, I am migrating here as a past WF user. Really happy to have landed here and with an initial scan of what is going on, this place will surely become my new home/addiction. Little background, I gave IM a "hobbyist at best" attempt in the past and am going through a midlife (mid twenties) crisis and sorting some life shit out. I've got a couple things going, but due to the hobby approach - not much success - YET.

I plan to start a journal here and participating/learning as much as I can - I've never been this hungry for it all before. I make no promises or set expectations, just hope for my own sake I can prove myself, receive, and most importantly provide something for the community here.

Just to be clear - is it friendly to throw around fuck, shit, fuckers, bastards etc in these parts?

Now off to a weekend job for the 4th remaining day in that position - cya soon! Also thanks to CCarter for taking the time and helping me out!
