Whether this exposes what some of the goal of Google+ was, or will be tied into some new form of Authorship, who knows...

Android Police found some (seemingly unintended since they're now removed) links to documentation for a new type of "Featured Snippet" to appear on Google. It's very similar to what exists for celebrities already, but is going to be opened up to everybody.

The catch? The data will be used in some fashion for advertising, obviously, which doesn't bother me, but I doubt that'll be the only application. And like lambs to the slaughter the people will willingly walk!

This isn't the same as Google Plus profiles or even the Google "About me" page. This is you providing details about your life, career, education, websites, social media profiles, etc. So this can be displayed in the SERPs if people search for you.

Here's an example of the "edit screen" to enter your data:

And here is the result:

On a side note, in my opinion, one day anonymity online may be gone entirely. We'll have some "single sign on" company like ICANN that we have to log onto the internet through, and all of our accounts on various sites will be attached to that. We just can't have people saying things on the internet we don't agree with, you know?

This is going to make spreading disinformation ridiculously easy.

1) Use a persona generator to create a full background on a fake name
2) Use https://www.thispersondoesnotexist.com/ to get a photo
3) Use a burner sim to create a new GMail for the person on an emulated Android
4) Send out posts about the persona to a niche related PBN of real looking websites to build clout if people Google search you. Like interviews about the persona and shit.
5) Setup social media / official website with the persona stuff
6) Setup the Profile Card
7) Start shitposting whatever you want

I'm not a dev guy but I assume all of the above can be automated.

I don't like this. It's going to be way too easy to game.

I’m done with this shit.

Time to steal their slogan and make an index that’s just page titles and url lists.

I see a new form of SEO. "I can rank you #1 for Peter Smith".
So glad I'm the only person with my first and last name in the world. Suddenly I'm an automatic expert in ranking #1...

Deindexing porn and spam backlinks should be fun.

I'm guessing further monetization (ads) as you mentioned, but also maybe play into E-A-T
