.. what is the best way to do this?

What I am talking about specifically is a small shop that wants to accept cards for gift vouchers.

So no need for an e-commerce store, but rather something I can throw into WP to just accept a payment here and there.

Halp?

I have always used PayPal, never had any issues. They have a plug-in for wp, is simple to set up. Hope that helps.

Shopify Lite is $10/mo instead of their usual $30+, and allows you to setup their Buy Button on WordPress, which will direct customers from your site to a Shopify checkout to process their credit card payment. They also support GCs: https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/products/gift-card-products

Stripe has these two things, Gift Up! looks promising: https://stripe.com/works-with/category/gift-certificates - especially since they can send a physical card, or just a code.

PayPal used to have a thing to create giftcards for your site, not sure if they still do but they have their normal buy/pay buttons, too, and people can pay with CC without having a PayPal account.

Thanks @mj22 , Thanks @Potatoe

Paypal might fly, have to check with the owner.

@Potatoe - I don't need to generate the gift certificates, those are handprinted.

The problem they have right now is that with an online form, going for the money is an enormous hassle.
Need to send a bill, track incoming (setup of several shops, money often is booked into another shop), going after non-payment - all for gifts of 200$ at most.

So unless they can accept payment right away, getting this sold online is not flying. BUT a lot of their biz is happening online already (bookings, etc..) so they see the value.
