So, if no one is aware, it was annonced today.

Just after the Chinese New Year Holiday ended , the Corono Virus pretty much created another delay. China's now shipping less boats to the US/Canada/Africa/India and other major nations. How extreme the cut down is, is unknown but they are saying delays are pretty much guaranteed.

CNN had a report: see here

A new product I was working on getting my hands on was effected even further. The factory that produces the product is not going outside yet according to the rep I work with and I dont think they really have a firm date on when things will change.

My other supplier is lying saying they will have it all ready on the 10th. However, i dont think he really knows for sure. He was supposed to be working as of the 4th.

Anyone else effected?

All of the factories we work with in Shenzhen are completely shutdown. Electronics industry in particular is going to be heavily impacted. What I'm hearing is that the very earliest they expect to be back to work and actually shipping out newly manufactured products is May.

Pretty worrying if that's true because practically no retailers are carrying 3-4 months of inventory across even their most popular SKU. I'm currently holding off the launch of another business that I've been working on for almost 6-months, because of the impact coronavirus is having on our current manufacturing.

Look like China's said 'screw it' and opening some factories back up. I got a message saying I can get thing delivered by the 10th of March.

1 month delay though. Damage def done. But, I should have enough product to last a while if product makes it through customs.

i think we need a post on "Following the Money During the Pandemic" .............. or change the title of this post.

I expect eCommerce to take a HUGE SLUMP and an increase in needs for SEO/blog & website service

This might get the big fish more pond space

I'm having several local businesses I work with that rely on classes/clients cut back on their marketing this month and for the next few months. People not coming in out of fear of coronavirus. So my income has definitely taken a hit.

I can see how eCommerce would take a hit especially if they relied on products from China, but if anything, won't it increase as people are staying inside more often?

Depends on who has stock. Big fish, yup. Small fish, nope.

I was lucky. I Got one package in, just as things were closing....

Then i got one Large package just last week. I'm definitely stocking up now.

I was fortunate to have customers wait however.

Did your shipping rates go up? I've heard they are now using the CV19 as an excuse to hike prices on shipping costs

No not yet, our operations manager handled all. But future drops sans a BJ are out of his hands. His words.

We’ll be able to explain the shipping cost being passed down without a problem. Blame the virus, little anyone can do.

Time to get back to work! I hate to say it but this new environment is actually very exciting...

I saw an increase in sales b/c of it all. You the same?

There was a dip for 5 weeks, only after this stimulus check did we see a spike, and it's been slowly growing back to February numbers. I guess people "need" (in their minds) to get back to normal. We'll see how long this can last.

I saw all growth . New heights. I think the first week was weird then it just took off.

I expect it to go down now, since everybody can go outside but we'll see. I've been pushing the qualities of my stuff that's a 'help' during the pandemic

Yep shipping/freight costs on all my products shot up roughly 300%. Just part of the game to play right now.

One workaround I've done is request express shipping on just 1 unit/carton to avoid inventory issues and then sea shipping for the remainder of the freight.

Alibaba also just released a freight sourcing tool which has come in handy if nothing else but to keep suppliers in line on their quotes for freight.

In the US, our rate of failure on shipments has gone up significantly (we've had to reship a lot more lately). Corona is screwing up local shipping abilities as well as int'l. We've had to upgrade (and pay more) to keep successful delivery rates strong.
