Do you do anything about links from image scrapers, etc.

How concerned are you guys with image scrapers or other junk links these days? I was ignoring them, but some recent ones have me wondering if I should be doing anything to limit future issues.

This is a new site, less than 6 mos old. It only has about 20 referring domains and half of them are from scrapers and other junk. A couple recent links were from bettingandgamingonline dot net. I checked it out because of the name and it only has my title and meta desc on the page and links via the title. Ads above and below, and then links to related posts that are about gambling. (My site mostly has software reviews, nothing related to gambling at all). I may be missing something, but I wouldn't imagine they could get too many views from the site owners they link to.

Even if its not intentional, do you think this could cause issues if enough of them show up?

Yes, I disavow them when there are too many of them. I'd say it depends on your linkprofile. I don't like them showing up on my white hat site.

My site gets slammed by these. I was disavowing them monthly, and then it got so bad I started having to do a mid-month session of disavow.

If you watch they tend to fall off by themselves, I suppose once Google de-indexes the domains. Then new ones get spun up and eventually fall off.

I've given up and am no longer disavowing them. Google swears up and down they have it under control. I don't necessarily trust that but damn I just can't keep up with the amount of spam my site receives. As the site gets bigger and I hit the wrong keywords in the images, it just gets worse and worse.

I'd guess at this point that if Google didn't have it under control, tons of sites would be getting penalized at this point.

God bless the scrapers that are nice enough to use nofollow in their templates.

In addition to image scrapers, I get hammered by Wikipedia copies, stat sites, keyword research sites, and valuation sites.

Thanks I'll do it once in a while, at least until the site gets a little more age to it.

I normally wouldn't trust what they say, but that's a really good point. They must be able to sort out a large percentage of it by now.

As @Ryuzaki said, they tend to drop off as quickly as they pop up. If you have a larger site, it would take way too long to disavow all that junk. I don't bother anymore. Haven't had any problems.
