That's a good read reminds me of my first client work I did, I totally under estimated the time frame part. Took 6 weeks (even with many phone calls) to receive images for a website design and me promising it'll be done in 4. I learned my lesson.

I actually keep track of those, even in the proposal.

It'll say something like:

Development
6 weeks from the point the design has been finalized and authorized.
Website content
2 weeks from the date the content has been received in text form via email.
...
etc
..

All the things that depend on a third party get a milestone treatment like that.
