Something different

Nice. This is the problem with buying gifts for girlfriends and wives, etc. We so quickly acclimate to the new reality that it loses it's novelty, and then you're forced to one-up the last "shock & awe" method. Or if you're smart, you pace them out with gaps in between so that the acclimation can extinguish and everyone returns to baseline. Then you hit them again with a typical, non-amplified shock.

I don't guess he was really talking about marketing, but all of the things we take for granted in this Huxleyan society of over-stimulation.
