Hi All,

I was wondering if you had any suggestions on WordPress speed plugins?
My site is Elementor + Astra.

I've tried Critical CSS, but I wasn't pleased with the speed.
So I moved to Nitropack which got amazing speeds - I think it's their defer method - but I've noticed so many glitches on my pages.

Which brings me here to ask if any of you suggest an alternative? I hear WP Rocket is good?
Or should I just bite the bullet and rebuild my Elementor Site into the Oxygen framework?

Thanks

I'd kiss the nested DIVs goodbye with Elementor and move to Oxygen + Flying-press (also built with Oxygen and Gijo [Owner] is actually apart for the Oxy community and regularly blogs about page speed https://wpspeedmatters.com/).

Elementor is like dragging a boulder up a hill.

I'm in the same exact situation as you Elementor + Astra.
Managed to get green on mobile with WPRocket, but I don't have ads on the website and I'm barely green. Desktop still has CLS issues.

I'm moving to generatepress + generateblocks because I want to have the highest CWV scores before adding ads to my website. I barely use Elementor anyway nowadays (I use it for some top3 boxes and some menus) so I will get rid of it.

Oxygen is pretty good too.

Wow thanks heaps guys.

Oxygen + Flying-press (also built with Oxygen and Gijo [Owner] is actually apart for the Oxy community and regularly blogs about page speed https://wpspeedmatters.com/).
Is Flying-Press built by the same guys who made Oxygen? Didn't quite get that.

Flying-Press looks really good and the Agency pricing is ok.
I'm using Kinsta for my top clients and it seems to be compatible?

Also, getting great scores on Desktop is pretty easy.
But getting good scores on Mobile is quite hard!

What has your experience with Flying-Press and Mobile?

No, the team that develops Oxygen and the guy who develops Flying-press are entirely different people. Elijah Mills is the owner of Oxygen: https://www.linkedin.com/in/elijah-mills-737640133
Gijo Varghese owns Flying-press: https://twitter.com/gijovarghese141

Just to note, why are you using Kinsta? To be frank, they're super overpriced. You could easily get a runcloud subscription and manage GCP yourself: https://blog.runcloud.io/google-cloud/

That or runcloud and a Vultr High Frequency server, Linode, DO, etc.

I noted in another thread that I had bad experiences with Kinsta: https://www.buildersociety.com/thre...g-what-do-you-guys-recommend.5859/#post-60637 - That's my thoughts. However, another user had good experiences.

With Oxygen + Flying-press + Asset Manager I get 95-100 scores on Mobile easily. The issues only start once you add Ads; However, even with something like Ezoic, I maintain 85-95 scoring on mobile with that setup.

Thanks that super cool. I'm actually using Kinsta out of exasperation after trying 4 or so other hosting companies.
Agree that's pretty pricy and wanted to see if paying top dollar for hosting made a difference.

This sound's super cool! Sorry, really newbie question. What is Asset Manager?
Is it this plugin? https://wordpress.org/plugins/gonzales/

As a small aside, I emailed the Flying-press Sales support to ask a couple of questions.
Gijo was the one that answered. Really fast email support! Thanks

My apologies. I'm just waking up and sipping on my coffee. I misspoke, Asset *Cleanup* is what I use:
https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-asset-clean-up/

Essentially you can disable bloat you don't want to load. For instance, I use Everest Forms for my contact pages. Everest forms works well however they want to load their files on every single page/post of the site - when I only need it on my contact page. With asset manager I can disable the loading of their scripts on posts. I also use Asset manager on sites where I don't use Oxygen. It really helps with managing theme bloat where they want to load a bunch of scripts and/or styling that you don't even use.

I've never tested it on an Elementor build but it might be worth a shot in a Dev environment.

Thank you. Do you use the PRO or LITE version of Asset Cleanup? Just bought FlyingPress now. Looks really exciting!
About to buy Asset Clean up too. Thanks so much for the advice!

I've never had a need for the "Pro" version. Everything I need it to do, I can do via the Lite (free) version.

Asset Cleanup sounds a lot like a plugin I use called PerfMatters' Script Manager. You can disable scripts from loading on a per page basis. Stuff like WooCommerce scripts don't need to be loaded on every single page. JQuery is another big page speed suck.

I use Astra and the Ultimate Gutenberg Addon by the same company. It's not the best, but with WP Rocket and PerfMatters I have pretty great scores on a lot of pages. Some of my pages have serious LCP issues because of DOM sizes, but I'm still workin on fixing that. Definitely going to look into some of the stuff mentioned here.

Does this and other gutenberg add ons slow down the site?
Surprisingly, most Gutenberg add-ons do not slow down WordPress in a major way compared to page builders. Gutenberg and the ecosystem around it are highly optimized. I mixed and matched 3 different Gutenberg plugins on a fresh wp install as an experiment and went from pagespeed 98 to 97. Negligible considering the amount of creative control it provides.

I can tell you this - I switched over to Generate Blocks and like it a lot better. Not 100% sure if speed was a big factor (although on GeneratePress + GenerateBlocks my site is MUCH faster than before), the biggest thing I noticed instead was the lower DOM size on my pages which was messing with my LCP.

Ultimate Addons for Gutenberg seems to be coded in a way that gives you massive dom sizes - for me and my way of formatting content, at least.
