Ive got a little stuck with my content. I have selected quite a specialist niche which might be the problem so I have had to do loads of research, because of this my content output has not been as much as I hoped but I can pick this back up again.... However, I seem to be running out of content ideas.

Do you have any suggestions for where to look for content ideas in a specialist niche like for example laser pens?

The first thing I'd do is hit up Quora, forums, and Reddit to see what people are talking about. Usually you can find a ton of long-tail traffic questions with pre-written answers and considerations already laid out. It's also almost guaranteed that if you structure it correctly you can end up in the Knowledge Graph and get all the traffic (If they even click through at all since the answer will likely be displayed).

Another option is to go "tangential." So the goal would be to mix your niche with another vertical:
  • Can Laser Pens Be Used to Summon UFO's?
  • That Time Taylor Swift Fell Off Stage Because I Laser Pen'd Her In the Eye
  • My Cat Loved Laser Pens Until I Used Two At Once and This Happened [GORE WARNING]
  • How I Combined My Laser Pen & Quantum Gravity Field Generator to Make A Star Wars Light Saber
Thinking this way also helps you get guest post opportunities out the whazoo.

If you've truly, fully tapped out your content for the niche, it might be time to turn to video and dominate YouTube, and turn to sound and make a Podcast.

  • Use Ahrefs of SEMrush to find out what keywords your competitors are ranking for and write content around those keywords. You can do this with the manufacturer websites of laser pens, too.
  • Use Quora / Reddit / Web forums to find questions that your demographic is asking about laser pens. Write content that answers those questions.
  • Create photo list-style articles (buzzfeed style) of different ways people are using laser pens.
  • Use Buzzsumo or Ahrefs content explorer and search for keywords related to laser pens to find content that has been highly shared. Recreate this content more comprehensively.
