Backlinko just posted a new article about some “new strategy” to get backlinks. https://backlinko.com/reverse-outreach

You will notice that all the examples don’t appear anywhere on the website because they aren’t relevant to their readers. I couldn’t find any internal links. I assume they are using xml sitemaps to get into the SERPs, but how do they build link juice to those pages? Social? Or do they have so much credibility that everything ranks high?

I have wanted to use a similar strategy for a while, but couldn’t figure out how to hide the article without also making it hard for the crawlers to find.

Marketing link bait with seo by leveraging existing network effect. Omg so insightful. Quick update ur linked in. Reverse outreach specialists are in high demand. Don’t miss this hot new trend.
U 2 can totally copy this strategy with Ur 3 week old Wordpress site and make massive internet dollars.

In all seriousness just don’t put links on pages between content that’s unrelated.
You can use different menus and internal linking options for pages that target different traffic. Nothing wrong with that.

Pages And page clusters with traffic and links get crawled. Site maps aren’t the whole world.

To be more direct. I think you got it right. The Answer is external links and ping backs.

I’d have a separate category I only link from the footer like “b-sides” or something. “Data”. But orphaning then isn’t a good move regardless.
