Hey Buso

Is there any point in inserting the tracking pixel into your emails?

What do people use to track email usage?

What software/provider do you use to track usage/clicks?

I'm looking for a software/service that has at least automated sign up procedure?

Not sure about mailchimp, but I don't want to email every sign ups manually. I wouldn't mind doing weekly manual emails. I've seen my competitors' emails and these are pretty cool, so I'd follow their formats somewhat for starters.

My site is older than 1 month and is getting <10 daily traffic.

I'm somewhat shy promoting my site.

The site isn't niched, it's very broad from books to laptops, clothing, sports stuff, etc. Only have 14 product posts + 2 misc posts + 9 pages, so the site's thin.

I've automated posting to social networks (facebook, twitter, linkedin, google plus page) with ifttt + buffer for g+ page.

I'm thinking of ditching automation for now and use buffer to schedule stuff instead.

My site is getting referrals from disqus.com and pinterest mainly.

I mainly pimp clothing images on pinterest and comment on disqus. Disqus seemed to ditch finding blogs on their site, I can only see "discussions" now, which are like subforums with sub-sub-forums on disqus.

Yes, to track your email click through rate.

Code:

I use mandrill, owned by mailchimp - it is way cheaper, but requires programming to get things going and a standalone system to collect and distribute emails. They only handle sending, you have to manage opt-in and all other compliance. Basically it is an email delivery API.

Pricing (They changed some stuff, cause I have accounts with the first 12K emails being free, and am not on any monthly plans, I have it so I just refill my money once the amount is depleted, I've put in $100 in like in January, and have sent millions of emails and am now at like $80 still for my balance, so you do the math):
  • $9.95 - up to 25k emails per month
  • $0.20/thousand - next 1m emails per month
  • $0.15/thousand - next 5m emails per month
  • $0.10/thousand - remaining emails
^^ Which ever scenario you go with, it's almost impossible to beat $0.20 per thousand for 1MM emails, but the starter is at $0.0004 per email, I mean... ya know, crazy cheap for 100% delivery. But you gotta know what you are doing - programming wise.

Thanks for the reply. I can't see any tracking pixels in your emails other than piwik campaign names.

Yes, to track your email click through rate.

I don't see any tracking pixels in there, like piwik's image tracking pixel.
<!-- Piwik Image Tracker-->
<img src="https:/piwikdomain.com/piwik/piwik.php?idsite=1234&rec=1" style="border:0" alt="" />
<!-- End Piwik -->

Could that be used to track open rate as well? Or what pixel did you mean?

I'm very new to mailing.

I only see mailing services' tracking capibilites by either adding GA or Piwik campaign&keyword details to urls or redirecting clicks through a provider's/own url.

Are you serious? I just literally posted it above...

https://www.example.com/#pk_campaign=headline_of_email_I_just_sent

Mandrill handles monitoring the open rates for me and click through rate, and I see the campaign within piwik from the "#pk_campaign" variable. On-top of that I can see the stats on Mandrill as well.

I was a bit baffled, but that's an EXTREMELY old email template (Date is May 7th 2015) - that has no tracking pixel OR you didn't copy and paste it all the way.

My site is older than 1 month and is getting <10 daily traffic.

With such a new site and this low traffic you might consider responders.com LoL you might consider it no matter what it's an autoresponder service and it's free so even if your site never gets more than 10 visitors a day (I'm sure it will though) you can still have a passive mail marketing campaign set up
