Like others have reported, there's something going on. I'm seeing a lot of movement across my main sites - one of which is experiencing massive losses. These position losses are much like the first rollout of the product reviews update, where pages would become not findable for their keywords...
You've been calling out Google's slow transition from being a "Search Engine" to an "Answer Engine" for a few years now, and this is as "Answer Engine" as it gets.
I was wondering how they would implement their Ai Chatbot feature. To see it baked directly into the search bar like this is pretty...
I just read that britannica.com - DR91 - deleted all of their product review pages.
I then checked merriam-webster.com - DR91 - and noticed that they have also deleted all of their product reviews.
Both of their subfolders - britannica.com/reviews/ and merriam-webster.com/reviews/ have been...
Fingers crossed this update primarily targets AI generated content. A couple of things they mentioned seems to point in this direction.
- “Are you using extensive automation to produce content”
- “a broader effort to ensure people see more original, helpful content written by people”
I just received an article back from an article writing service that I've been using for a couple of years without issue, but this latest order is full of AI-generated content.
I'm seriously pissed!
Online publishers who hire writers now have a new problem to deal with, because some...
This update doesn't appear to be targeting sites with poor page speed scores, web vitals, or heavy ads.
My site has perfect scores and was wiped out. The site has no display ads, it's super clean, and here's the result of the update;
Run a few of those ad-heavy big brand magazines and news...
I've had a closer look at the keywords of my competitor that dropped into oblivion, and what pages are now ranking in their place.
For keywords that mention a product, it appears that big brand eCommerce stores have replaced his pages.
For example, a keyword he ranked #1 for was "Cheap...
The site is a few years old, and held some of those positions on and off for a year or so.
However, a 7-year-old competitor site was also destroyed by this update.
Check this out for a bad day at the office...
Hundreds of top #10 spots - gone! And this guy's site is as White Hat as you can...
I'm down more than 50% on my main site.
Agree with @blackcanary - looks like a sitewide algorithmic penalty. Our sites have for sure tripped a filter of some kind, looks a lot like the December update. It's as though the filter zero's your site's Page Rank score, many pages fall to page 2, 3...
Indexing has been a serious problem for some time now, and seems to be getting worse.
I've put a lot of thought into this. From what I can see, Google seems to have applied a score threshold on pages / sites. If your page is below this score - no indexing.
The lower the score, the slower the...
I have two main earning sites - both have been wiped out by this latest update.
I don't typically complain about these updates - bumps in the road are part of the game, but what I'm seeing with this update is insanity.
Two main sites - both sailed through the first wave of this update on the...
Looks like round 2 is rolling out.
The update on the 4th had no affect on my sites. However, with this round, I'm seeing red arrows across all of my sites.
