Could be anything, really. It's not uncommon for SERPs to fluctuate in any niche. Big and small names alike can come and go and come back again and then maybe go again.
I'm assuming it was likely a combination of google clamping down on YMYL content (Your Money, Your Life) - basically anything...
I'm sure this isn't a shock or surprise to any one of us, but I guess it's now officially stated in their Privacy Policy.
Google is going to train its AI by scraping everything that's publicly available online. So in very-Google-fashion they're going to steal everyone else's work to serve up...
Yea it was really nice to see. Basically instantaneous for my article as well. Something must be brewing. Maybe this means they're done with whatever experimenting/testing/tweaking they've been doing for the past several months, and we're moving back to a more stable also implementation. At...
Is anyone noticing a difference in indexing this week?
For the first time in forever, I posted a new article and it was indexed and ranking Top 50 within a day.
This hasn't happened to any of the other articles I've posted all year. Maybe it was a super low-comp keyword, I don't know. But...
Definitely seeing large swings in keywords on various pages yesterday and today - both upwards and downwards. Mostly on TOFU content. And new posts all this year are mostly still dead in the water - indexed, but not being served (or if they are served its spotty/short-lived at best)
So I've manually submitted disavows in the past and have updated it about yearly I'd say. I've been spammed before with NegSEO but recently I think something new has come in to a couple of URLs. Unfortunately AHREFS and GSC isn't showing many new RDs or links coming in.
So I was thinking about...
The world is fuckin amazing my guy. It's the most beautiful and interesting and chaotic and nonsensical existence we could hope for. Being alive in this time is cot damn incredible and full of insane potential that can barely be imagined.
WHAT A TIME TO BE ALIVE
Doom and gloom is bullshit...
Actually just watched that video you shared here and it's got some wheels turning in my head. With good prompt engineering, the content (and SEO) game is going to get REALLY interesting.
I get what you're trying to say, but Google (or whoever) answering the complete query using AI is quite literally GPT (or whatever) generated content. And I still think for anything but relatively simple/straight-forward queries, there isn't enough expertise/nuance there.
If you're looking for...
I think this is the way.
Content by experts in the field and on the ground of whatever industry you're in will always be valued over generic (and sometimes censored/incorrect) content. The reason Google was so great and grew into a verb, was it was able to (at one point in history) find and...
Been playin with ChatGPT lately and honestly it's useful, but I'm not that impressed. The inital hype was just that to me - hype. All of its answers sound like canned PR responses or generic textbook answers to things. It's like speaking to a glorified chat bot and I really think overall it's...
Best bet is to create a digital product related to your niche if possible and market it like a real company.
The ancients here have been talking about traffic diversity throughout all the ages. It's our own faults for continuing to drink from Google's fountain exclusively, and ignoring the...
I noticed about a 25% drop in search traffic around Feb 9, not sure what accounts for it but it had basically recovered all the lost traffic from 2022's updates before dropping. I put a lot of kitchen sink style work in to do that, so kind of annoying. Have been seeing some wild kw ranking...
I think it could be a "cover our asses" approach. It'd probably hurt them to on the one hand say "your use of AI content is bad and spam" but then turn around and say "we're going to use AI content because it's good and helpful"
I'm curious to hear everyone's thoughts on internal anchor text and exact match keywords - are you keeping it low as well or using a lot more exact match anchors on internal linking?
This honestly makes a lot of sense. I know you gotta take everything from the horses mouth with a grain of salt, but this really makes sense when you think about what we see happen almost every update
