You'd be better of setting up Google alerts to a gmail account for certain keywords, send alerts for forums/blogs/news etc.. use a wild card * in the alerts to grab any related terms.
Hand pick the places you post, stay away from anything that would be determined a link farm by G.

On Fb and Twitter I bought 20 FB and TW accounts from an Indian firm, and set up 2 pages/accounts on every niche I'm involved in (not website fan pages, just interest groups).. and another on a similar semi related niche for each.
Set up dlvr.it to feed in some relevant stuff on auto...
Generally, I find a lot of the decent freelance web designers are pot smoking time wasters.
The most efficient and cost effective are usually the Asian outsourcers, but often too generic designs to get anything "proper" built, and communication can be a nightmare.
Which then makes you lean...
Automation is my main weakness. I really need to get deeper involved, as many tasks I have (at the moment) take too much time, and often get draining.
When I look back at the things I did automate, they produceD great results.. :)
