Introductions Thread

@benjameen, welcome aboard.

You won't find much, if any, black hat information here. In the SEO sense that's not really running a business but just a series of schemes that require constant surveillance and interference to maintain. In the true "black hat" sense of illegal and unethical behavior, we strictly condemn it here.

But that's not to say 95% of us didn't have our hay day spamming pre-Penguin or didn't give it a whirl after that. Not-coincidentally we've all moved on from it to the more lucrative and longer-lasting methods of actually marketing and building brands that provide value to the end user.

What kind of projects are you working on? eCommerce, Authority sites, smaller affiliate site projects, etc? How long have you been involved with internet marketing?

I'm glad you're enjoying the forum. Our unwavering commitment to not letting broken-english speakers post indecipherable speech and not let low-effort posters shit up the forum with one-liners takes a lot of time, but it works.

Hey all

This seems to be a nice place filled with lot of good info and more awesome people.
I registered on this forum after checking out Ccarter's words of wisdom there, worth reading!! I am looking forward to have a fruitful time here.

Cheers! Happy Hustling!

I have wandered the online business world for a long time, too many time, without achieving anything remarkable. But this ends here and now.

I have started a new project (I will create a journal as soon as I can): an authority site with which I will destroy my adversaries and take the throne of the niche.

Now is my time.

Right now I'm feeling like that with 6 months serious effort I can take the next step. If that happens then I'm hoping that will be motivation enough to keep going

What do you want to achieve with your project? Money? Success? Do you want it strong enough to work on it for hours and hours every day even if you don't see results? What if in 6 months you don't get the results you expect?

Six months is no time for any serious project. You have to really want to reach your goal and persevere until one day you can get it. I've always thought that there are two kinds of people, those who want to do something and those who are going to do it. Usually only the seconds get it.

I don't want to discourage you, nothing further from reality. But from your words it gives me the impression that your project doesn't motivate you enough to work hard at it and endure on the hardest moments.

Do not try, DO IT AND WIN.

What's your history in internet marketing? Been around a while or new? Any successes in your projects? What kind of stuff do you like to work on, like authority sites or ecommerce, etc.?

Glad to have you on board.

@Jimmythesaint

Glad to have you around. Tell us more about yourself? How long have you been involved with internet marketing or business in general? Do you have any nice successes under your belt? What kind of projects do you like working on?

Catch you around the forum!

Wow @denisgeo, that's a pretty good platform you have to build upon. With all the resources available on the forum, especially the Digital Strategy Crash Course, you should be able to scale this to the $5k levels that you're looking at!

I'm so glad that we have an epic internet marketing community here at BuSo. I was really bummed out when WickedFire lost its way and disappeared into darkness but I'm so glad that we have the crème de la crème of the WickedFire members creating some amazing content on this forum! Once again, really glad to be a part of this community and thank you guys (@eliquid, @Ryuzaki, @CCarter, @The Engineer, @Steve Brownlie and the entire team of contributors!) for filling the void that WickedFire left behind.

Thanks for the welcome @Ryuzaki

I have been in the internet marketing arena for the past 3 years, working on ORM and couple of pet projects which involves getting contributor access for myself on top media outlets.

So far, I have had good success in most of the orm projects as I always prefer to work extensively and focus more on the quality factor. Willing to learn more and share my knowledge here.

@SteveW, welcome.

@Ryuzaki and @eliquid I started close to 9 years back offering content writing services and building niche sites and finally graduating to authority sites. Just launched my authority site in the health niche a few months back and looking to build upon that. Got a solid amount of content on it and I'm exploring a few content marketing strategies and outreach now. Still in very early stages, but the stage is set for a solid launch as there's about 200,000 words of content that's published and lined up to be published over the next month.

I'm also (not sure if this counts as self-promotion, please take this bit of text off if it is) launching our content agency brand on BuSo soon! I've been offering our content services for close to 8 years on WickedFire (Dev!l on WickedFire) and I'm hoping to get a chance to talk to some of the old timers that I worked with back at WF.

I've been lurking around here for about 8-10 months now and finally decided to get involved! Hope I can make some valuable contributions to the community and be a little more vocal :D

One thing you haven't mentioned is spending time getting really clear about who your visitors are, and what their needs and wants are.

You mentioned that your ebooks are not selling - but are they what your visitors want to buy, and is the messaging directly targeting the unique needs, wants and desires?

Maybe a survey, ask them questions in an introduction email or even get on Skype with a few of them to learn what language they use to describe where they are now and where they want to get to.

I've been lurking on this forum for a few months after discovering it from a few old WickedFire members and a recommendation from WordAgents. There's so much great advice available, and I really enjoy the progress threads and people's journeys.

I started my online business journey 8 or 9 years ago. I bought a website from DigitalPoint forums about natural toothache relief for a massive $10, taught myself SEO and increased then rankings and sold it for a gigantic $150. The $140 profit wasn't life changing but it did get me hooked. For the last 7 years I bought and sold websites, and started some of my own and have earned a decent income from my website portfolio.

I love the freedom it has provided me - I live in Australia and have a young family (2 young boys) and can work / travel when I want. We are about to leave on a 3 month 'holiday' to south east asia.

About a year or so ago I started getting a nagging feeling that I should have more meaning in my life - and help make the world a better place in some way. So I've been on a journey to create an online business which I am proud of, which leaves a legacy and which genuinely helps people. I've had a couple of false starts - but things are now taking shape and this will be my focus for the next few years at least.

I look forward to connecting with many of you in the forums and hope I use my experience to help where I can - my expertise is in outsourcing, automation and systems to grow 'hands of' web businesses and on-page / off-page SEO to increase traffic.

Thanks for reading!

Hi Tom, welcome to Buso! Great to see another Aussie on board. There are plenty of us here. Where about's are you located?

Glad to have another successful veteran on board. I agree about offering something to the public that makes a difference. If we're extracting all of this income, we should at least be giving back in some fashion. At minimal it means we can sleep a little better at night, but even better it means we'll leave the world, at the end of our days, a bit better than when we joined it. Catch you around the forum!

Hi,

I have been lurking on the forum for the past few weeks, going through the digital strategy course and absorbing as much information as possible. It was an eye opener, getting so much actionable and in depth information on how things worked beyond SEO. Just wished I had discovered this forum much earlier.

A bit of info about myself:

Started creating a website for my first business in Joomla back in 2005. This is how I got into IM in the first place. Had been playing with MFA sites in the past, though nothing serious. Used to own an agency which handles client work for Adwords, SEO and web design.

I'm comfortable with CSS, HTML, and Wordpress, having deployed at least a hundred sites in the past. I have also been certified in Goggle Analytics, Adwords and have been a Google partner in the past.

A few years back, I started an offline business with a few partners, which folded last year. It was both a mentally and physically tiring time during this period. It was a great learning experience as well, though it left a bitter taste in my mouth, having to deal with a lot of infighting between partners. Now, I’m trying to get back on track both financially and mentally.

My biggest problem right now is that I no longer had the fire that drives me in the past after my most recent business failure. After taking a sabbatical of almost a year, I have been reading up on a lot of psychology and motivational stuff for the past few months to get myself prep up for the long road ahead.

After going through the digital strategy course, it is the kick in my ass that I ready need to get going again.

Thanks for all information you all have been sharing! You guys rocks!

Welcome Tom.
Recently I've been working with a lot of aussies and they're very nice people. I'm glad there are a lot of you around here and I wish you the best with your business.

Hello there,

I just joined this forum after watching some video's from Charles Floate on YT. I have to admit that I never heard of this forum before but I did some browsing and it looks promising.

I'm a full-time IM'er for over 7 years now and I'm mainly focusing on SEO.

Thanks,
Bladhark

Charles does some good videos, glad he led you here. Hope to cya around.

Heard about this place on reddit a couple months ago, finally joined. I've been kicking around the idea of online businesses for a while. Started a couple projects, made a little, lost a little, nothing impressive. But I never had a resource like this community to learn from before - this time I can do better.

My skills and resources:
- Content writing/marketing
- Education/training experience
- Basic design
- Mandarin speaker
- Experience in running a successful small business offline.

I'm here to up my game and finally launch a successful online side business. I'm not 100% sure which direction I should go this time- a B2B content service? Drop shipping? An authority site? All of the above?

I see a world rife with opportunities, and I'm ready to learn how to take advantage of them.

A journey of a thousand miles...

Welcome @Nomad, great to have you here!

There sure is a lot of potential opportunities out there but you'll find that most every successful has focused on a single business and dedicated their life to it.

It's almost irrelevant which you choose. Most businesses can make you rich beyond your imaginable dreams, presuming that you execute it correctly.

You can speak Mandarin so perhaps you'd have an advantage in talking with Chinese suppliers and getting products created and shipped to US customers. It could be an interesting idea to create an authority site around a topic, have a product made and shipped from China to your customers, also sell that product as an Amazon FBA, sell it to other eCommerce companies, eventually put it into stores, TV ads, daytime shopping, Walmart, then buy a private jet, build an island and live happily ever after.

There's lots of potential, that's the fun part. But try not to dream your way away, pick something and promise yourself that you'll give EVERYTHING for at least 365 days.

Welcome!

Thank you for your response.

Yes, I was thinking that I might have an advantage dealing with Chinese suppliers, or setting things up in mainland China (custom products, warehousing, etc).

I'm not sure that I really need a private jet. I'd be happy with not flying coach anymore. And I'd really settle for a beach house closer to civilization. The logistics of owning and resupplying an island... But I take your point.

Reading through the guide, it looks like I need to be researching verticals. Something with enough margin, close enough to my interests, and in demand. Maybe Chinese domestic electronics or outdoor gear.

Thanks for the welcome dude

I guess blackhat is a pretty loose term, I use wrt ranking methods and nothing illegal. Without unlimited budget it's hard to get ahead without some good tricks!

For the past few years I've been working in high volume & high competition niches (finance & tech service sector with a good ticket value). I tend to start a few projects at a time and go for authority style sites, some will do well, some get dumped.

I'm currently looking to start a project in the coming weeks which will be an ecommerce site with purely paid Social traffic, something I've barely played with in the past - any lessons learn't here by other users would be greatly appreciated!
