Recovering Failing SEO Sites with the Kitchen Sink Method

Thanks for your wisdom. I think you're absolutely correct. My site is an ecommerce brand that started in a niche that was grassroots and was essentially re-categorized into the health industry as it grew into the mainstream. The last google update crippled my organic traffic, but it didn't...

Recovering Failing SEO Sites with the Kitchen Sink Method

Hey @Ryuzaki thank you for this post. Very helpful. My ecomm site that contains a blog I got hit hard with the latest update and have been working to recover. Crossed many of the items off the list here over the past few months and what's left is what I consider lack of authority - links from...

    Burnout

@psyvortex glad to hear you've utilized mushrooms as tools but I do want to make sure you're seeing my point which is the retreat setting. Many of the accelerating mental health problems in the world, in my opinion, are caused largely in part to the isolating nature of our society. Not having...

    Burnout

Check out psilocybin (magic mushroom) retreats. I can't recommend enough. The michael pollan book 'how to change your mind' is the book to read if the intentional, healing use of psychedelics interests you at all.

    Recommended Affiliate Software?

I am running an ecomm store and looking to build an in-house affiliate network. The store is running on WooCommerce, and while I realize there are plugin-based options like AffiliateWP, I'd really like to stay away from doing this the plugin route if I can. Curious if anyone can make a...

Deleting Yoast Plugin Increases SEO Traffic?

Not sure if I am the norm, but I configure my free Yoast implementation by hand and have it running on many sites. I just use it for sitemap, meta title/desc, noindex, social data, organization data. I don't connect search console, use it for breadcumbs, or use premium. Using it in this way, I...

Wordpress Users: What scares you the most about static websites?

Personally I am familiar with WP which keeps me there. I use lots of custom functionality to build databases on my sites (location databases, user generated reviews etc) - not just building content only. Even recently moved on to ecomm and now using WooCommerce happily. I've long seen the...

Transitioning eCommerce - Sell the Affiliate site or merge?

So I've been deep in the trenches on this, getting all the content ported over and mapping out what lives, what doesn't, and where everything redirects. Thanks for the thoughts on this @ryandiscord, this gives me an overarching rule to apply to each case now. I'll be redirecting the home...

Transitioning eCommerce - Sell the Affiliate site or merge?

Here’s a question: since the affiliate site is essentially becoming a sub-section of the e-commerce site, it seems to make sense to me that 301ing the affiliate sites homepage to the merger announcement would make sense in that the homepage of the e-commerce site is not really a 1-1 match. From...

Transitioning eCommerce - Sell the Affiliate site or merge?

The new domain is squeaky clean and has been in webmaster tools for a few months now, clear of penalties, indexing already etc. It sounds like my best plan might be to give the ecommerce search console account access to the affiliate site, then file the site move once all the 301's go live. I'm...

Transitioning eCommerce - Sell the Affiliate site or merge?

Hmm ok - sounds like I have a different situation where I already have the site registered and indexing through search console.

@andreint @Ryuzaki when you guys do these merges, do you also file a site move in search console?

Transitioning eCommerce - Sell the Affiliate site or merge?

Looping back around here to say thanks again to all you guys for the feedback. Pitched the idea to my biz partner and he is in. Should be executing this by the end of the month! I’ll let you all know how it goes.

Transitioning eCommerce - Sell the Affiliate site or merge?

On the content site now, each article is monetized using display ads + an upsell at the end recommending some brands to choose from. One brand in there is like 50% of the site revenue, the good news is that our new brand sells a comparable product, priced more competitively - so effectively I've...

Transitioning eCommerce - Sell the Affiliate site or merge?

@andreint That helps a ton. Your approach makes a bunch of sense and this announcement page would really work well now that I think about it. The only thing I need to think about more is just the business strategy, specifically 301ing vs 404ing pages that were previously profiles for competing...

Transitioning eCommerce - Sell the Affiliate site or merge?

I will be using a new domain. The old content site would get thrown out. My risk tolerance is very low. This is a serious business that I am building for the long run with a partner. Can’t be messing around at all. Couple questions: The content site has a listing of brands, I had planned to...

Transitioning eCommerce - Sell the Affiliate site or merge?

@jjj_ not sure I totally understand what you’re suggesting. Maybe I can elaborate a bit more as I might not have been clear: As an example, let’s say the content site is all about painkillers. General content that includes health claims of how and why they work and why citing research, topic...

Transitioning eCommerce - Sell the Affiliate site or merge?

I am faced with a very complex situation that I've been thinking through from every angle. I'd appreciate some help and/or some ideas: The situation is this - about 8 months ago I started a content website in a niche in the health industry. Since that time, I've been presented with an...

What are the best websites to sell websites / stores now?

Lets call low level anything under what is listed on FE/EF. As for scams, I am seeing lots of new accounts, people low balling offers (10x multiples for quality sites), and just anything else that doesn't feel right in your gut. If you know the basics of selling a property (multiple to expect...

What are the best websites to sell websites / stores now?

I'll actually throw a +1 out for Flippa when it comes to low level sales. I've had good luck - actually just wrapped up a sale there very recently. Yes, you have to navigate around spammy/scammy behavior, but there are real buyers on that site. Use their escrow service.
