Introductions Thread

I have law firm sites in five different cities. Right now I have a bunch of page two rankings for each. I have not approached any firms yet because I was going to wait until they appear on the first page for some terms. Now I am thinking that I should approach now, and go for the ones that are on page three or four, since I am ahead of them.
Because it is the law niche, I figure I can get at least $1000 a month for them.
My only problem with backlinks is that I cannot submit to lawyer directories because I do not have a physical address linked to the site, and all of the directories require an address. I do have phone numbers for each of the sites. I am still exploring other backlink opportunities. I just downloaded the BusoLightning theme, so once installed, I hope to get a little bump for superior page speed.

Is Full Stack marketing a new term being used around? I have heard it a few times now, wonder if they copied it from Front-End Full Stack people.

Anyways, welcome!

Welcome aboard. I've been wiped out once by Penguin due to cruddy links like that. It was the very first Penguin. I was building immaculate sites, paying close attention to the most minute details on the site. When it came to backlinks I didn't care. I threw the kitchen sink at them and it worked (until it didn't).

Now I isolate projects that I intend to get a little spammy with. If they burn it doesn't matter, they earned in the mean time. But my focus on my main sites is absolutely above ground white hat link "acquisition". I build links, sure, but I focus on attracting real links for the most part and they are 100x better than 99% of what you could pay for.

I've not done a lot of PPC. I think when I get serious it'll be entirely focused on Facebook. What have your PPC experiences been like?

Thank you :-)

Back in the day I (2008-2012) Adwords was amazing for the niches I targeted, I was getting clicks as low as 0.03p and killing it over the xmas season, unfortunately those days have long gone and the CPC is more like 30p! You can still do well with Bing!

Can I ask do you ever bother with single product sites?

Hey there

I'm brand new to this and have been spending all my free time consuming SEO articles for the past few weeks. I finally took the jump and bought a domain. It's time to get started. Looking forward to learning more.

Thanks!

No but that's exactly what I'd set up if I was running PPC campaigns. I'd split test every single element and create an optimization machine. Then I'd start working with Adwords split testing, then move on to other creatives like banner ads, etc. And just go to town. Maybe open it up to affiliates at that point too.

Right on!

Have you considered the type of site and monetization you will use?

You sound new, so I'd like to point you towards THE resource for all beginners: The BuSo Digital Strategy Crash Course

If you work through that and take it seriously and forget about shortcuts and tricks, you'll jump straight to the top 75% or higher of internet marketers.

Good luck, don't be shy to ask questions and share with us anything awesome you learn. Catch you around the forum!

Hey milo welcome - always good to see another UK person. Whereabouts are you based? Leamington here - always up for a beer if you're about. I'm also going to be around at Brighton SEO in the spring if you're heading down.

Thanks Steve. I'm based in Devon and would be great to meet up at some stage. Still deciding if i'm going to go to BrightonSEO this year (If I do i'll let you know) but will definitely be going to Ungagged London in the summer.

As title states, new to this, interested however and looking at making some extra money on the side of my day job.
My friend and colleague from work advised me to come check this forum out, and suggested getting started with wordpress and just getting the feel of it.

I have background in IT from work and University and pick up tech things pretty easily.

Is there anything you wish you knew when you were first starting out, and are there any general tips you can give me?

Many thanks in advance Curtis.

This right here could be the first mistake you make on your journey.

As mentioned in the crash course, taking the hobby approach to IM won't work.

You're already putting into your head that this is just a side thing you can do when in reality it's quite the opposite.

OK this one was huge for me. Prior to my tech affiliate site I was working on a modeling site. I had done months and months of leg work, created a beautiful unique design, pumped out 25k of content, then in the end I was just burned out. I had zero fucking interest in the modeling scene and on top of that I had no clue what my audience would even look like. Nor did I have any skills I could bring into the niche. $1k or so spent on the project and I completely dumped it. Never looked back at all.

Moral of the story - choose a niche you have a strong interest in and skillset / knowledge for.

All the best matey!

I was still planning on investing quite a bit of time into building sites and learning, will just be outside of work. Cheers mate, appreciate the info!

Hey there! I am looking at starting with an Amazon Affiliate in an info/sales type site. I've chosen a vertical, and am now on Day 3 of the course, working on my market research. Thanks for the effort you've all put into it. I can already tell it's the most valuable resource I've found so far.

Thanks again!

There's no reason you can't make money doing IM part-time - as long as you still treat it like a business and understand it can take a long time to start seeing any kind of return. It's unlikely you'll make much profit in your first six months (although you might), so it's really important not to have unrealistic expectations.

Being tech-savvy will help with learning how to setup websites, hosting etc. But that's really only a tiny part of ranking a site. If you're planning to do everything yourself and not outsource, be prepared to spend a lot of time writing content and link-building.

Also, make sure you get the right balance between learning and actually taking action. The crash course here is a good start and there are some great blogs around, but a lot of beginners get so caught up in reading they forget to actually build content and links.

Hi, I have been doing SEO for about 15 years or so, on and off, but after stopping for a while I have decided to build some Amazon sites and grind my way to $10,000 per month Profit and then sell the sites for at least 20x monthly profit (so, $200,000 profit from site sales).

Basically it is a lot of work and I am still deciding if I should do one big site covering multiple niches, or several smaller sites with only 20-30 pages each.

I saw Charles Floate's Case Study linked from Facebook so I decided to sign-up here. Looking forward to reading and learning here.

Just signed up this week and already have gone through some really great threads. I recognize some screen names from WickedFire (used to lurk there years ago).

I've been in the tech industry for years, have lots of web development experience. Have had some small successes in the past with IM. I'm ready to take things to the next level. Being able to bounce ideas off like minded people is an awesome thing. Glad to be here.

I'm currently self employed and make my living off consulting gigs I get from corporate clients. I have plenty of free time to spare so I decided it was time to get back in the game.

Welcome! What kind of projects are you considering starting in your re-entry to the game?

Thanks! Probably just going to keep it simple to start out and work on one authority/informational type property.

Thanks for the tips! Was planning on writing some content for a friend who already has a website set up as his business. Just to get come practice in really.

I do like learning, but will definitely be building as well, I mostly learn from doing hands on work. Currently working my wanly through the crash course as well.

One site covering just one topic, that's large enough to have multiple niches within it.

Hi guys and gals,

I got recommend to this nice community by Charles Floate.
I'm in this industry for many years but barely involved in the community (I was a bit active at source-wave forum and had the pleasure to work with Mr. Becker himself).
I will be happy if you can recommend me any other places (like Facebook groups and such) where all the action is
I'm looking forward to contribute and share my knowledge especially on my field of expertise which is SEO domains (domains that are used for SEO purposes like PBNs), and perhaps find some nice people to add to my networking.

Sincerely
Tom

Are your sites doing as well as the link selling? I've done more than dabble in link selling and it was a monstrous cash flow but a pain in the butt to maintain. It's not something I'm interested in doing again now that I broke free from it. I'd rather do a site design for one-off cash than manage tons of buyers again. Although it got a lot easier when I outpriced the cheap and headache-creating buyers.

I made seperate PBN's for selling purpose and and for my own sites .
As selling i sold to tons of people , agencies and handled 500+ sites network with the help of my team .

Hey Guys,
Only just stumbled across this great forum. Seems there's a stack of info that I'll be reading over the next few weeks

I'm from Oz, been doing SEO/Affiliate marketing since 2012. My first sites were in the XXX niches, but when we started a family in 2013... I didn't want the kids stumbling across the 'content' so moved to Amazon sites. The guides written by Danny1111 at BHW really helped, and the sites have served me well for 4 years. Now it seems every man and his dog has an Amazon site, so I've started moving into higher commission niches and rank and rent local.

Cheers
