Introductions Thread

Alright got to get my 3 posts and 3 likes before I'm allowed to roam free in the forum.

Done online marketing for a good 6-7 years now, stopped hanging out on forums after wicked fire took a turn for the worse.

Decided recently got find a place where I can learn/network/discuss new ideas again and was told that BS was a pretty solid place.

Yeah I passed the internet hundradaire line a few years ago. Became and trillionaire in Zimbabwe $$$$ lastn week so I think I'm on a roll
 
i prefer multi-millionaires from Venezuela myself..........

Thanks Ryuzaki. I'm currently working on 1-2 larger 'authority' style sites I guess you could call them. With a number of smaller projects, all of which will grow int larger sites, some of which will be sold for cash flow and others built into beasts!

I've had the most success from building systems and doing more of what works.

I took my business back to its basics, 1) find keywords, 2) create content, 3) perform outreach. By doing so I was able to take a 10,000-foot view of my business and focus on those 3 things. Everything else took a back seat as it was deemed less important.

Having that kind of clarity has not only improved my revenues but also my mental state. I am no longer confused about my direction. I have clearly defined goals, I write them down each day in the same notepad. I am no longer worried to tell my friends/family what my goals are if they ask...to most of them they sounds ridiculous, but I am ok with that, I know I can and will achieve them.
 
Hi Friends!

I have fallen in love with this forum and all the beautiful knowledge which is hidden with its depths. I'm in the video game niche and am starting down the long road of making this my living. The bragging thread has been very inspirational and kicked my butt into grind mode. I'm hoping in a year from now I'll be generating at least half my income from my website. Then I'm going to take it to a new level above afterwards.

Hey Webby, what sorta work do you do in the video game niche? Do you work on games, content about games, selling games? It's one of my favorites and one of the funner niches to be a part of, at least certain areas of it.
 
Also coming from wickedfire. Remember when I joined in 2011 and things we're still ok.
 
Just joined here as well. Kinda just stumbled into the community by accident, but after having spent a few hours reading the content on here, I decided I simply had to signup and join in myself too :smile:
 
Thank you @Potatoe for the warm welcome! I have 3 sites about video games on consoles - the consoles being the differentiator. One of my goals is not to be a "review" site, but more an experience portal. What do that mean? I do thinks differently by playing the different games while recording and giving details about harder parts of the video game and how to get past them.

Example can be if anyone is playing Final Fantasy XV I will play the game and research the most talked about topics of the game. After I create the content around the controversy or hard parts of the game while defeating the problem, then upload the video along side the content I created for the title. I end up do 5-10 pieces per game, and eventually move on to different titles as a hotter game comes.

The big problem in the past was monetizing the content, but after reading a lot here and seeing the success other have had I am starting to create a mailing list to send out when I have new blog posts. That will get the traffic "back" and create my audience base.

Once I hit a certain traffic volume, hoping for 1,000 views a day, I will start placing ads within the site slowly and gradually. I will not give users shock of all new advertisements all of a sudden. This started out as a hobby but now it's time to take it serious since I realized I do have a audience that comes back when looking in analytics.

Hey all,

Just came across BuSo a few days ago, seems like a lot of knowledgeable folks here. I'm a digital marketer, work in-house for a law firm, but also do SEO-focused affiliate sites on the side. I've been doing content and SEO since 2008 and have made just about every mistake possible, so I feel like I have a good grasp of what works and what doesn't.

I've had minor success with a handful of small sites, but as of this year had one Amazon affiliate site take off and is making 5 figures/month. Not sure how that stacks up with affiliates here, but I'm always ready to learn more to improve conversion rates, etc. On the flip side, definitely willing to share what's worked for me so far.

I focus a lot on keyword research, finding long-tail opportunities that haven't been saturated yet and creating content that's written for specific search intents. Even though there's a lot of "keywords are dead" talk, I find that in talking with a lot of people in my job, life, etc., there are so many consumer research and buyer processes that are still guided by keywords that it's hard to not make that a strong foundation of my research.

I spend a lot more time on on-site optimization than off-site, but I'm always on the lookout for quality link/content services, I've already seen a few offers here that look great.

So I think in the past consistency has been my biggest enemy and when I've attempted to build sites before I've spread myself too thin trying to be a writer, a Dev and a markete which has just resulted in me giving up before I've even started to make money.

I've also been a sucker for new shiny object syndrome!

I've challenged myself to find a niche, buy a theme rather than try to code one myself, outsource the content and focus just on marketing... After all, that's suppose to be my biggest skillset.

Start a journal in the labratory. It will give you the consistency you need. If you happen to go off course you have a bunch of guys happy to pull you up on it :wink:

Congratulations on that. It's a thrill. So many people fail to make their first dollar. Then we start hitting these certain thresholds like $100, $300, $500, $1k, and it becomes real obvious that "this is possible." Then our minds and brain start to change, and that's when we unlock the next stages in the game. So fun.

Very nice! Congrats on that. As far as how it stacks up, you'd enjoy skimming through The Bragging Thread. We've got people making 10's of dollars up to millions of dollars here on the forum.

I agree, when it comes to the buying process, organic traffic and the right keywords will allow you to insert yourself very near the bottom of the funnel. There's still a lot of gold in them hills.

That's it right there. Offload all you can't do fast and well or don't care about, manage the highest aspect of your business yourself, and scale to the moon on one thing. That's how you win with the snowball effect and compounding results.

Hey thanks! Will definitely check out that thread. And yeah, I agree, I think there's still so much potential out there, it just requires a lot of digging around. Even if big brands/sites dominate the large niches online, there are so many markets out there that are still a few years behind in terms of marketing, content, etc.

Hi,

I am from the UK and have been building sites since 2010. I know quite a lot and have implemented a lot but always looking to learn new things.

I recently started a new site (5 months old) and looking to make this into a site I can sell. This month it should make over £500 and hopefully this will be a trend that moves it into the New Year. It isn't really a niche I would have thought would have done well in December but it seems to be doing so.

I look forward to chatting with people and connecting.
